Moderators - can you change the sequence numbers?

I notice that when some threads have been removed the sequence numbers change with them. My concern is that I made a recent posting on a thread that has now been closed but because some threads had previously been taken out, the message I referred to was now a different message number and the number I stated was totally in opposition to my opinion.

I try to do this by typing something in a deleted post but it is not always possible

We live and learn. I will not delete posts completly, but remove the text so they stay in order. This way you can reference msg numbers.
