Laptop power lead help required

Hi,



trying to sort out HP Pavilion Zd8000 Laptop, believe power lead not connecting properly, power lead lights up but power not getting to laptop.



Does anyone have similar laptop that I could just try their power lead to prove mine is faulty.



The lead has an oval shape connector.



Quite happy to buy new lead, but would just like to prove it is the power lead and not the laptop. Will travel anywhere to test machine, but would prefer East of Girne and out to Tatlisu area if possible.

This problem is more likely to be to do with the input socket on the laptop itself.

I have had the same problem on an Acer machine, try wiggling the input connector to see if you are getting anything at all.

Maybe someone with a circuit tester could check the lead for you to see if there is power there.

Thanks Batterboy58 have tried this but no good, the actual connector seems to have 4-6 connections three of which are not making contact due to usage. Getting a new lead on internet no problem, just want to prove it is the lead before going down that route.

Still looking for help on this, or does anyone know where \i might get a lead in trnc instead of waiting for one from uk? The lead must have an oval shaped piece that plugs in to the laptop, circular ones like many mobile phone charges are no use
