The Israeli President and Turkish Prime Minister have had a public fall out in front of the worlds media in Davos, with the Turkish Prime Minister threating afterwards possibly futher action against Israel.

The Turkish government appear to be standing up for the rights of the muslim world and drawing a line between them and the rest of Europe, talking of no longer bothering to attend these summits as they see themselves isolated as the token muslim voice.

The chances of Turkey joining the EU look like a distant pipe dream with Turkey choosing to take a more commanding role with its muslim neighbours.

The chances of a Cyprus solution appear unlikely with the Turkish government going for a we want nothing to do with Europe position.

a digression has been shown by turkey towards the arab nations recently ,not sure how concerned they are about the eu ,as they have been slightly browbeaten by some countries.

The current Turkish government, in my opinion have never had a real intention of joining the EU. It would be detremental to all their normal trade and diplomatic ties.

Just think about all the pipelines for gas and oil that travel across Turkey from Iraq, Iran, Azerbajan, Georgia and what sense does it make to be part of a union that tells Turkey what to do. Turkey actually holds 4 aces on this point.

Also NATO in the guise of the USA uses Turkey as a military short cut to the middle east, what happens if that relationship goes.

In the last few weeks Israel has shown its true colours. I have great sympathy for all the Jews who died in the 1930's and 40's and visits to some of the memorials always bring tears. But now the Israelis think they are untouchables, in my view that is why the Turkish PM walked out at Davos.

Turkey has given acces to airspace to attack bases in Lebanon and Syria, no more!! Turkey knows who are their true allies and they are not to the west.

I just wonder what Turkey would have done if the south were bombing the TRNC cities with rockets, every day...

I don't think that they would have waited 8 years to respond. Probably not even 8 hours...

And would the results of the Turkish response have been less bloody?

Good to see the Turkish PM standing his ground and having the balls to walk, the Turkish people welcomed him home at 2 in the morning (BBC News) and were full of support, great to see. Shame our shambless of a goverment cant take a leaf out of the Turkish book, Gormless Gord and his cronies are a bunch of bum licking deadbeats who are digging Blighty deeper into the mire. Thank God we left for a better life living in Greek houses.

This is just the sort of situation envisaged with Turkey outside the EU and free to choose who it supports and who it doesn't. I guess we have the GC's to thank for some of the current state of affairs that leaves the area in.

Like I said before, It would be far better (for some people) with Turkey inside the tent pissing out, rather than outside the tent, pissing in.

American overseas aid budget 12 billion

What a shocking statement message 7!!! With firearms being smuggled into Gaza, and fired at Israel for such a period of time, just how long DO they sit without retaliating?
