I've been living in Lapta for a few months now & have tried various kebab shops, both local & in Girne. The best by far is Kösem Kebap. If you park in the council carpark, near the big TV screen, there is a clothes shop opposite called Nurbutik (?). Walk down the side of the shop & Kösem Kebap is on the left hand side at the far end. I've been to other kebab shops & would have needed at least 2 if not 3 kebabs to equal the size of theirs. They do a variety of food, wraps, kebabs, soup, etc & everything has been lovely. The staff are very friendly & take their time to speak to you & make you feel welcome.

Highly recommended.

For myself you cannot beat Gulen kebab, down the alley alongside Apple Tour adjacent to the central roundabout in Girne. Their kebabs are meat (lamb or chicken) and salad rolled in their own bread - looking a bit like a giant pancake but a very different texture. They are beautifully spicy and only 4.5 TL. The big drawback is you can't get a hot or alcoholic drink, only pepsi, 7up etc.

I can honestly say that I have never had a kebab while being sober! (in the UK)

What do they taste like?

Hi Nick

Yes it is just a few doors down from Cafe De Paris. Always had a great meal at Köşem & very reasonably priced.

John, I dont know about alcoholic drinks, but you can definitley get Turkish tea, Turkish coffee & Nescafe.
