Hi Gazza

Yes we stayed at the Altinkaya for a week in October, while our apartment at TBV was getting furnished.

It is a good location, handy for the sights - Kyrenia harbour, Belapais abbey etc. Part of our deal was breakfast in the morning - good.

The staff and management are friendly, the rooms are not too bad. If push came to shove, we would stay again.

Enjoy your stay

Bob.

Hi

Whichever you choose try Green Island Holidays. They are really good with great staff and good prices. Having tried quite a few I found it worth a few extra quid for the Dome, but Jasmine Court was good value as well.

hi all

thanks for your replys we will look on internet at the places mentioned above. monkey our apartment is in guzulyurt but we do not mind staying near kyrenia just to have a look at other parts of nc it will give us a chance to see the built up side of the country as guzulyurt is in an out of the way area, if all goes well for nc this area will be popular in the future..

If your apartment is in Guzelyurt you don't want to stay at Altinkya you would have to drive through all the traffic in Kyrenia. You really need to stay west of Kyrenia, try the Ship or Friends Hotel

Yes it does get very busy going through Kyrenia, the odd time you will just sail through other times it can take ages, 30 mins is not unusual

Or try the Celibrity Hotel in Lapta friendly staff very good prices right in the middle of Lapta. shops, restuarants, etc saves you driving.

I'd say any of the hotels in Lapta/Alsancak would be better for you. Back to the original question. We stayed at the Altinkaya for a 3 week stunt a couple of years ago and found it really good. Would definitely stay there again if need be.

hi all

thanks for your help, getting spoilt for choice now when we make our minds up will let you all know looks like it will be lapta/alsancak side mainly because of the travelling distance to guzulyurt.

cheers gazza

We stayed in the Sempati in 2003, we had a suite (for some reason) but all the rooms were lovely, with a good pool and friendly staff, we booked directly with the hotel and he even arranged our flights, good location for Guzelyurt.

However, if you need to stay up the other end of the Island, would definitely recommend the Altinkaya, again you can book direct, and they will collect you from the Aiport (all airports). They have a choice of little villas or you can stay in the main hotel building. Lovely grounds and pool, again, very friendly staff and the food is not too bad either. My sister stayed there in September and had a good time. Our house is just down the road and we often pop in just for a drink.

Yes, I would also recommend the Sempati - we stayed there in Feb 2007 and found the hotel and staff really friendly - also the rooms are spacious, comfortable and airy. We also apppreciated being able to have an evening meal at the hotel.

Try the Hideaway club, 3 miles from Kyrenia towards Lapta,1 mile up the hill to Karaman.

The website is http://www.hideawayclub.com.

Quiet and relaxing, friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble for them.

The situation with the bypass for the last 12-15 months or so is that it will open tomorrow.

The problem is that it is always tomorrow, have you ever seen the signs behind bars saying free dinks tomorrow?????????????????

If you are looking for a good hotel -- let me suggest the Malpas on the down side of Five Finger Mountain. A good four star with excellent service is the Pia Bella in Kyrenia. In fact with the excellent service, I like them better than any other five star hotel.
