Nige you have a good forum but your rules are too tight, there is a lot of dissent on this forum and you could benefit greatly, you just need to relax a bit more, Skogsy has left and I fully support his comments...the moderation is over the top, stifling and biased.

All serious postings are closed or deleted and stupid ones encouraged..

Please rethink your rules..

Sorry Mike...it's a bit early over here and I'm confused!

Is this a comment about Cyprus 44..Nige's Board..Or both?

Cheers.

Morning Cronos, Skogsy has left cos of the moderation on here and I think more will follow, nige would benefit but he needs to accept that not everyone is always gonna be kissy kissy ...

Ahhh.....I'm with you now.

Yes,as I've said before, there is room for both types of Board.

Nige's Board is still young, and as you say "kissy kissy" and happy clappy.

However, for it to thrive it must evolve, and that will bring the problems that you've picked up on,on here.Otherwise it will just remain as a dozen mates chatting about their day on a BB instead of in a Bar !

On Cyprus 44 , the moderation is a necessary evil , and because the moderators are individuals it does sometimes throw up inconsistencies!

However, anyone who has been moderated, deep down can generally accept why....they might not like it,but then some people are against rules altogether !

I am speaking for Deecyprus here cos she keeps getting banned, this time for sarcasm..SARCASM.. I mean come on this is getting bloody silly...we are being treated like 4 year olds, and before a certain unnamed idiot who posts just to annoy comes in...and watch cos he will my msg to him is dont even go there

I can accept I was banned before ...I guess.. but not over sarcasm...differing opinions create debate and debate is what keeps this board alive and the revenue coming in...

Ahhh...this is where my sympathies start waning!

Sarcasm is a fine debating tool...IF it is used in a humourous,knowing,tongue-in-cheek way.

However, being antagonistic, vitriolic, and using personal insults should not be confused with sarcasm.

Cronos since Dee's last ban she has not been at all contenious in fact quite the reverse, but sarcasm is accepted in many forms..she puts her point across and she gets very passionate about certain things...but to get a ban for sarcasm is absolutely ludicrous..

Cabbie.....it is another Cyprus forum set up by a long standing member on here...Littlenige.

Quite a few members from here moved across...and some continue to use both boards.

It was set up to be a "friendlier" forum, and concentrates on the day to day stuff rather than the heavier poltical issues.

I have visited it,but am not a member, but it looks like a complimentary Board to this one.

Each to their own as they say!

I have to admit I find the other board pretty boring, very happy clappy with an occasional dig at this board thrown in, but if this board continues to ban people for every little thing then it will become the same, let people express an opinion now and then please.

Hi Hattikins - long time no hear!

Agree, I too find the other board petty boring. As someone else posted, it's like a few mates having a chat about everyday matters. Still, each to their own. Feelings are still running high on this board, but at least it sometimes makes for interesting reading.

Hi Wicks

Been in Cyprus for a few weeks, lovely !!!!

I was surprised when I got back to see how many regular members are missing from the board, for what reasons I do not know, but since then I just check it out as I haven,t found anything at all interesting to debate.

I must say it is not the same without the likes of Pike, love him or hate him at least he kept us on our toes, Groucho is much missed too as are many others who could always raise a laugh or take part in healthy debate, very sad really to see things go this way, let us hope it improves soon and gets back to the great board it once was.

Nobody has to join in with the general everyday chit chat, there is a book club, News, Sport, Pet corner, Music section, Items for sale, including Property! North Cyprus tourism, where I personally spent a lot of time letting people know about my experience with Getting a container over to N.C from the UK.

You don't have to go into 'General Chat'

I do enjoy posting on here to from time to time, and have not personally had any attacks, insults, or sarcasm hurled at me, and must admit I cringe when I do see it happen to other people.

There are obviously different boards that are set up to cater for different aspects of living in the TRNC. This board allows political debate but with that goes a moderation level that hopefully stops posters from getting too wound up and aggressive. Every board has a natural cycle of losing members and gaining members and this board will survive the same as other boards are surviving. people will find a board that slots into their way of thinking and posting. What I find interesting is the amount of board members that have been temporarily banned and criticize the moderation but still come back to post once their ban is finished.

A J

Spot on with that post. There is room for everybody somewhere.

If you don't like it here go somewhere else. What could be simpler ?

As you say there is a place for all types of boards, you just have to find

the one for you .As for the banned members that come back.Well it must

be the right place for them !!

That is exactly the problem with Bulleting Boards. I posted a fact, you regard it as sarcasm, others would regard it as a laugh, others would disregard it as irrelevant.

So what makes you right about your assumption that I have been sarcastic in my posting?

Take care

Members join a board, get board leave and join another board, there must be a board out there that caters for the get board easy type's.

Honestly trncc you would not say that if you were here a couple of months ago. All hell broke loose, and not a Mod in sight, slightly overboard now I agree.

Of course we need moderators otherwise it would be a free for all, we have seen postings that were nothing but filth, threats and insults, that was extremely unpleasant for all concerned. So long as the moderators allow some freedom of speech it should even itself out.

Spot on with your message 35 BUT you don't need 10 or more of them. In my view 2-4 would be more than enough, then you would get consistency.

There was a case a couple of weeks ago where part of a posting was deleted by a moderator, yet the info deleted was already in the public domain.

Hi All,

Was not "the latest pie in the sky, Las Vegas type project" by mmmmnm not exactly

the type of thread that Cyprus 44 specialises in. Read it...and you will see exactly what the problems are.!!!!

All Cyprus 44 needed was STOP the personal insults, the vitriol, and the backbiting. Hosts of

moderators were never needed, and has been counterproductive to the good running of this board.

It was when this rule WAS NOT enforced that it all fell apart.

This type of posting, without the backbiting, the vitriol and the personal insults. IS the way forward, with a LIGHT finger on the delete thread, post closed, and you are banned button, is what is required.

My humble opinion, that is all.
