Where do I find the Lapta Muktar

Seeking to get my residency. does any one know where to find the Lapta Muktar please and when he is there.

Depends which area of Lapta you are in. The one for our area (upper Lapta) is in the barber shop next to Buse Market, which is near the art centre--the old Greek church.

Theres 7 Muktar's covering the Lapta area, I went to the local Police Station to find out, they were really helpful, pointed out to them where I lived, he then made a few calls and gave me name and phone number of mine.

Sagsy, if you live near the old cemetry, i presume you mean the area near Dolmaci tomato tunnels, your local muhtar is not far from you.

Blimey, I didn't even realise there were so many Muhtar's for Lapta and just went to the one my friend knew. Guess he must have been the right one though as my residency renewal was approved no problems. For once a bit of Cyprus luck I guess!!

There are some Muhtars that will give a you letter regardless of where you live in the area and my suggestion is that just use any Muhtar and if he wont sign a letter for you then he will phone a friend and it will be sorted.

So either I got the right Muhtar by sheer luck or the one at the barbers, which is the one I went to, will give a letter regardless of area.

In Alsancak there are 3 Muhtars (at the last count), 1 is over zealous and he looks after a large proportion of Alsancak, Muhtar 2 is a great guy who does not want any proof of where you are living, does not want to see any documentation and you just pay 5ytl for the letter and the third Muhtar I have not yet met but i have been assured that he is of the same mind as No2. And I hasten to add Nos 2 & 3 do not get on with No1. I am sure that this will be the same scenario in Lapta. The more you get to know the locals the more you will understand what is going on.

the Muhtar we go to acts very official.

We offered 10ytl after he signed ours for the second year,, he asked for 10 each!!!!!

Guess what I said????

Phew I'm glad I live in Karsiyaka. Only 1 Muhtar and he doesn't charge for letters
