hattikins If they are Turkish Cypriot friends then before you visit you try to find out what is expected from the first visit (rules etc). Once you have made the first visit then you will understand more about the rules. After a few more visits then if you do not upset your host's and you abide by their rules then you will find your subsequent visits all the more enjoyable. Take care AJ

but you may think they are my friends I shall not desert them, without bulling them try to change certain aspects of their behaviour in the hope it may MODERATE certain traits. You may show your friends thre is a " friendly " way to do things and they may choose to take this on board, alternately they may chuck their dummy out of the param and ban you from visiting them. Even so if they are true friends you may choose to persevere this is what true friends do.

TRNCC I don,t know what sort of Turkish Cypriots you have met but our TC friends would certainly not give you a smack in the mouth. Incidentally I have friends of many different nationalities, they all accept that we may not agree all of the time but we do still remain friends, we also respect each other so would not intentionally offend each other.

I would not discuss any subject with anyone if I was aware that it may be offensive to them, that would be disrespectful.

our tc friends don't have an issue if we talk about or eat bacon. some of them even have a crafty homemade scotch egg sometimes. most of our friends like to eat , drink and be merry. so we always tell it how it is, and just laugh about things. life is too short. but then you have to be a little crazy to live in our village anyway!

Been to a t/c house today , moslems drinking alcohol no problem, talking about the price of bacon no problem but shivered at the thought of going to the uk with all the crime, snow and foreign scroungers trying to milk the system.

When you visit friends there are certain rules you should observe. Always take a bottle of Lambrusco or Blue Nun,.. Petrol Station flowers may be acceptable. Show delight at the aperitifs of Pineapple and cheese chunks on cocktail sticks. Do wear dress jewellery. Be appreciative of the Prawn cocktail with salad cream. Do not ask your steak to be cooked a certain way. The burned onion rings will mask any errors. Praise the clever addition of 'Hundreds&Thousands' on the black forest gateau. After the meal,.. do agree to listening to Demis Roussos!! Rob
