Hi everyone, i,ve been reading your posts for some time now and it strikes me that life in the trnc is much the same as it was 25 years ago from the perspective of an expat. This is a good thing in my opinion. Some people accommodate the trnc way of life quite easily but most take quite some time to adjust to the idiosyncrasies of trnc life. Life can be stressful out there in the sun, but rest assured life is damned hard in the uk also... for some!

hi coldboy

i find it funny that both the english cypriots in our village, have found it harder to adapt than us, who are both brits.

one has left for turkey and the other family are going back to the uk.

Thanks for your reply fire starter,

Maybe the notions that were inplanted by their parents or friends hadn't come up to expectations. The old cypriot way of life has been eroded somewhat and it isn't exactly easy to make a living out there. Each case for living in the TRNC is different but I feel that for Retirement purposes there are certainly plus points.

Which village are you living in as a matter of interest?

What a better world we would live in, if no negative comments were allowed,

Nice one Nick, I must admit to dropping some empty " Long Life " beer cans at what used to be " Shirley Valentines " place at the coast by Lapta. Not caught "on camera" in those days!!!!

Stewart

so we should all walk around with rose coloured glasses on? Unfortunately life's not like that, you have to face up to the realities sometimes.

Dear Q

It is how you face realities that matters, when something goes wrong do you have a plan b, c, d, etc or do you let it get on top of you?...better to have rose tinted glasses that work , than stumble around in the dark!

I presume organised local litter picking Teams have been tried before?

There is something to be said for getting up early, taking in the nice weather and views and doing something positive, albeit, repetitive!

People here get a nice yellow jacket and £5.73ph to do just that , but on the side of motorways in all weathers. Shall I send some sturdy Litter Picker implements?
