Hi - just wondered if anyone else had any problems sending photographs as attachments with hotmail using the Turkcell 3G USB modem... I haven't been able to send any photos since using it - not sure if it's something to do with settings that could be changed or whether there is some sort of block...?

If I am being techno-thick... please be gentle with me!!

Ta

Spanna.

Hi Spanna

I haven't experienced any problems sending photos over hotmail although it can take a while depending on download/upload speeds.

Regards

Paul

Hi Spanna

Try reducing the 'file' size of the photos and sending just one, to see if it makes a difference.

I have noticed that a large file sometimes causes problems, especially if your connection speed is slow.

Also ensure that the 3G setup is set to "only UMTS" which will force it use the fastest connection speed.

hope this helps

I have had 3G since november and not experienced too many problems, even sent loads of photos by hotmail.

However recently am struggling to connect with UMTS only and if it does connect internet goes in and out.

Am using EDGE/GPRS only which is working but obviously a lot slower.

Any ideas why the UMTS not working for us?

Hi Jardap

The connection will drop offline if the unit switches to any of the other systems (gprs/edge) but this may be caused by the position of the modem.

Try re-siting the modem, i found the position of it does help with signal strength/reception. Also if you have anything nearby which gives out a magnetic pulse (mobile phone, PC speakers UPS etc.) this can affect signal recesption and cause the connection to drop off line.

Try to avoid the corners of buildings, the re-enforcing rods in the concrete can also affect signal strength

I had to buy a USB extension lead to reposition my modem and it worked.

hope this helps
