No. But I realise that there is a need for such a forum due to several reasons. NorthCyprusForum.com uses vBullettin and supports many things unlike Cyprus44. Also, it is at a domain not like /forums. I am working on improving Cyprus44 and may be even allowing both websites use the same database. We'll see.

I'm confused Izzet. I guess commercially it makes sense for you to run both sites, but as a poster I don't know where to post, should I do so on this site or the other. I feel comfortable and feel historically and loyally tied to this forum, however the other forum offers more practical functionality, and is probably better suited to our needs in the long term. Is there a danger of the richness of both being diluted? What do you want us to do to Izzet? Help, i'm going under not knowing what to do

hi mark long time no hear, i hope you had a good x-mas i was thinking exactly the same mate, even thou i wont stop using and adding my two pence worth lol to this forum, i have slowly started and posting on the other forum, even thou this forum is the best it is not very user friendly where the other forum is powered by v buliten which means there are loads of things you can do on it, if you remember izzet was asking us how he can improve this forum and we all mentioned a lot of ideas well most of these are this forum i.e private messages-edit-pictures-icons etc so at the moment i will post all info and answers to questions on here but will also answer and post info on the other one aswell, hopefully izzet can sort it some way where most of these threads on here can be used and seen together with the other forum take care mate warm regards erkan

Izzet, Can both forums be linked in some way, so that people who prefer this forum can see the other and vice versa. I assumed that the info you asked for in the form of improvements would be made to this site, not create a new site. I was quite happy plodding away with this site. This has a verry good feel to it and whilst the other site might have the addition of some new functionality, I'm not sure which one to use? I will probably only use one and not the other, but which one???? I don't have the time to go through both, as some/much of the info may get repeated on the other, therefore defeating the object for me. So I have to ask, what the purpose would be to keep both going? Steve Merry Xmas and a joyous New Year by the way

Hi Erkan I had a great xmas thanks. Nice and quiet just how I like it. Hope yours was good? I notice you have posted on the other site. I think I will move my posts to the other forum. I can't do both and in many ways I need to spend much less time on these sites than I presently do. Saying that I have spending more time on the TRNC villa site. There are some interesting posts on there. http://trncvillaowners.phpbb3now.com/search.php?search_id=newposts I guess when you live away from NC the forums are a way of still feeling connected to the island and a way of making friends. What other sites do you post on? Happy New Year to you Erkan

hi steve (hope u had good x-mas) i agree with you mate, this forum to me is better maybe cos the other one is new, but this one feels more personal plus we all know each other we are all like friends (well most of us!!! lol), i hope there is a way that both can be linked so info does not get repeated twice, i think mate once most of all the members join the other forum this will either eventually be closed down or as soon as you click on forum on the main page of cyprus44 you will be redirected to the other forum like you even thou i post a lot on this forum and have started to post on the other one i have the time during the day at the moment but once buisness starts to pick up feb/march time i wont have the time to post on the two and will only be able to post in the evenings regards to you erkan

hi mark even thou i am member of most of all the forums, i have made a choice to just limited myself to a few forums otherwise my whole time will be consumed by posting on various forums, at present i use four, 2 concerning cyprus cyprus44 and northcyprus and 2 concerning turkey i.e mymerhaba and marmarisromance but will probabley cut this down to 2 in the new year cos i promised the other half cos i post while im at work and at home but on top of that i receive tons of emails from people asking for help and i just cant keep up with it while trying to have a life aswell lol and like i said before once buisness picks up feb/march time i will be quite restricted to post during the day anyways hope you have a blinding new year we are going to a concert tonight where there is a whole load of famous turkish singers performing should be good and something diffrent other than a club or resturant take care erkan

Chaps I need to rename myself as confused, being on the bottom rung of the computer knowledge ladder, what is vbulliten and a domain? (in simple terms please)I have visited the other site and there are topics posted on there that are the same as here, so what benefit is it to use one or the other site or both even,? not that I have that much time to visit both. I like this forum for all the reasons we have mentioned in previous threads and as mentioned everyone has got to know one another, I would hate to lose contact with people from this forum, now, I am all for change if it is a positive move and benefits people who use it. Have a happy (sober??!) New Year everyone. LL

Sorry lovelife, when it comes to computer jargon I am super illiterate so am not best equiped to answer technical terms. For me the benefit is that subject matter can be split, for example I like the political debates whereas many people do not. Debates can be split off from the main subject matter so that not everyone is exposed to them. We can't do this on this site. Also jokes threads which are not to everyones taste can be split off. It also looks like seperate threads can be started for each site ie evergreens, Sea Terra, Turtle bay etc

lovelife/ilovecyprus I'm pleased that I'm not the only one who doesn't undrestand this modern computer language. Being in the 'forty something' category and having been brought up with pencil, paper and the times table, find it all very confusing. We didn't even have calculators at my school all those years ago. That could be why I've opted to spend my twighlight years in TRNC.... That reminds me, where did I put the abacus.

Hi & a happy new year to all. I agree I also enjoy C44 but I also like NCF as it was very easy to look up info etc so I think its a good thing to bring it back online. Well done Izzet and lets look forward to 2008

Happy new year to you all.. Thank you for sharing your concerns.. they are very true. The C44 forum lacks many things. I have a todo list but my time is very limited. So it will take some time before the features will get implemented. I might as well switch to a forum like vBulletin on here (the current postings will be preserved), but this will take time as well. NorthCyprusForum.com (NCF) was closed some time ago. I saw the potential in it both business wise and social wise. So, I bought the domain from its owner who had no plans to reopen the website and make it functional again. It's on a domain, so on a long run, it will be more powerful to many other competitor forums that are on a sublevel. I installed vBulletin which is more powerful and allow basically anything. I understand C44 is more personal at the moment, but it makes sense for everybody to move to NCF on the long run. I expect this will happen naturally over time. C44 will never be closed. It will be improved over time. The information on C44 forums will be linked with the content part of C44 website. To be honest, I can't really say you should choose one or the other at the moment, but I know that buying NCF and putting it back online was the right decision Take care you all.. Izzet

Hi everyone and happy new year. I have signed up for NCF and had a look, but I too prefer this forum as it's simpler and more user friendly (imho). Perhaps because I have limited time/access to the internet I want to use a forum that I'm familiar with, know how to navigate quickly, with names of people I have become used to. I also feel loyal to this site because of the friendliness of the users; however, if I suddenly notice that everyone's disappeared over to NCF then I'll have no option but to do the same. I'm sure that in time, if NCF is the forum everyone chooses to use, then I'll get used to the new format. That's life!!

hi all to all the guys who dont know what vbulletin, i will try and explain in simple terms basically its new software which is used for forums it makes life a bit easier to program, for us normal posters the diffrence is how we can post our messages i.e edit - add attactments like pics and video - have private discussions and messages and much more, to see the diffrence look at this forum which is quite simple all you can do is post, not edit you cant have multiple pages nor send private messages etc so a quick summary the diffrence between this forum (basic) and lets say a forum which has vbulletin software all it is that the later is much more advanced and more user freindly ok now the name domain in infomation technology terms has many meanings but the thing i think you are asking just simply means the name of the internet site i.e http://www.cyprus44.com it is also called a host name hope this helps to all people who are bit clueless in this department happy new year and warm regards to all ukturk

simbas: I know exactly what you mean, but he doesn't need to rub it in, does he ..... My neices and nephews constantly tease me about my lack of internet skills, but then again, they seem to spend most of their time on chat sites, something I've never done. Like I keep telling them, I like to exercise my brain cells by reading a good book, something THEY never do. OMG, now I'm REALLY sounding old!

Hey, ukturk, perhaps if we are all in NC at the same time you can run a mastercourse in how to effectively use forums such as this one and the NCF. Me and simbas could be the first to sign up for it, ha ha ha ........... I'm on a bit of a high at the moment because for some reason I have unlimited access to the internet in work (instead of my usual 10 minute slots) and have no work to do, so I think I will use this unexpected opportunity to have a look again at the NCF to see if I find it any easier to navigate second time around. I may even post a topic for practice!

ukturk: You have to take your pleasures where you can find them, and having unlimited internet access is what does it for me at the moment! As far as learning Turkish goes, I'm going to give that a miss as I'm not in the least bit linguistic. After years of living in the Middle East I've yet to learn more than a handful of Arabic words. I've been quite stubborn in my ignorance because all of my local colleagues rely on using their time with me to improve their English. What a waste it would be if I were to speak to them all day in Arabic! (That's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it!)

hi abby i suppose what ever rocks your boat!!!! lol only joking, dont worry i know what you mean its the little things in life that makes it special i dont belive it you being such a clever, independant woman that you are not linguistic, i know what you mean about arabic thou i never could understand why they read right to left saying that thou i did learn some arabic when i was working in egypt like shukran=thank you - a layla=tonight - yalla emshei= hurry up belive me turkish is not that hard to pick once you have learned the pronounciation it is quite easy it is said how you read it but i suppose its easier said than done cos me being fluent in both languages and knowing a few other languages aswell so enjoy you unlimited internet access time and maybe if you are bored go onto msn and we can chat live on their cos im at my office and got no work on today!!!! regards ukturk (erkan) p.s the words i wrote above are not actually turksih they are welsh for simba her coming from wales i thought i would impress her!!!! lol

ukturk: I'm embarrassed to say I have no idea how to go about a live chat on msm. Now that's really showing my lack of techno skills .... If it's quite straight forward to learn, send me an email to let me know what to do so that when we are next looking to fill time in our work day I'll know how to do a live chat with you. Also, my work day is coming to an end. The good thing about starting work early is that you get to leave early too. Another half hour and I'm off, bearing in mind it's 2.40 pm here in Libya, and I guess I should fill my last half hour doing some work. I can't believe I've done NOTHING but spend my day on the internet today, which is why they don't give us unlimited access .. we take advantage. Unfortunately I don't have internet at home, too complicated to explain why, but I do live in a third world country so you can guess the problems. As far as me being clever and independant, of course that is true, but I'm also a lazy b**ch at times, and if I were ever going to make the effort to learn a second language it would be Spanish or Italian, not Arabic. simbas: I didn't know you are from Wales. Whereabouts exactly??? I call Cardiff my home city as I've lived there for the past (OMG) 30 years. OK, as reluctant as I am to drag myself away from the internet, I have to log off now and do some work before heading home. Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.

| Re message 27 from the oracle Simple when its explained is'nt it? Not so clueless now.? I have chatted/written online once and that is only because my husband had to guide me through it, do not think I could go solo although I can do skype and I set most of it up myself, the fact I could not get a picture and one of my colleages husband had to come and work on it to get a picture, is irrelevant!!
