Turkish Cypriot singer aims for Eurovision

By FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE ONLINE STAFF 05.FEB.09

A Turkish Cypriot singer is competing to become the first person from occupied northern Cyprus to represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Zeliş Şenol, will compete this Saturday in the national finals - a public contest held at CyBC in Nicosia, which allows the country's public to vote between several singers.

Şenol said participating in Eurovision had been her childhood dream and she is counting on Turkish Cypriots’ votes to win.

This year’s competition will be held in Moscow in May.

New rules for voting this year and the UK representation was masterminded by Andrew Lloyd Webber...

You never know... for me will it EVER be the same without Tel doing the commentary.. Mr Norton has a hard act to follow.

It would be GREAT if this lass represents Cyprus.

Message 9 - I'm with you on this Bill. Terry Wogan WAS Eurovision. His irreverant remarks made it bearable (just). The funniest thing was, if you listened to it on the radio, you could always tell when hestart ed having a drink!! Got to agree about the hair - better to be safe than sorry!!
