I have put a couple of posts asking for help re where would be best for us to look for long term property due to the fact that we rely on local shops and bus services as we dont drive.

So what about Lapta. The main village seems to be about 2k off the main road.Do the buses run up to the village or would you have to walk down to get them?We have also seen properties advertised along the main coast road at Lapta but what is the local shopping situation like or would you, again, have to walk up to the village?

Any help much appreciated.

Yes the buses do run into Lapta village. Alsancak village is also well served with supermarkets and a good bus service.

As AJ says well served with Dolmus, the mini buses that pass my drive every 5 mins.I'm just off centre of Lapta,up about mile from coast road.

If I walk it's 5 mins to a Supermarket,or 2,chemist,post office,2 mins to hairdresser and barber.you can catch the dolmus through Alsancak village to a good supermarket, and a reasonable choise of restaurants.

Had home here for 6 years, retired here last September.Loving it

The buses are a bit smelly though. Also a bit of a hazard.

Does everyone think the buses are safe?

I took the Dolmus a few times before I bought my car.

Frightening !!

The vehicles are not suitable to be used as a bus service. People trampling on your feet getting on and off. I remember ripped seats and the driver seemingly taking pleasure in pulling away before people were able to sit.

I found the experience horrific and very dangerous.

Bigben,looking to long term rent

Mikelapta, thanks again, might take you up on the offer.

Val44,When you have never driven and have used the bus in some very strange places around the world little things like insane drivers, road condtions more like tracks through the jungle etc are no problem....all part of the fun in fact, just have to go with the flow.
