| Who has a problem with Gollies?
It never meant anything ontoward to me as a kid in the fifties. It was a nice cuddly toy, that's all. Neither did collecting badges from the jam and maramalade. They are freely on sale everywhere unbenown to most listeners on Radio 2 today. Many callers were from ethnic minorites who thought the only people with a problem on this were middle class white people. If nobody can have a private conversation in their coffee lounges then the BBC must have intigrated some ex Stase personnel?? |

The whole situation is ridiculous. Surely the point is was the comment meant to be offencive or just an aside.(I assume that this relates to Carol Thatcher's private remarks)
I appreciate that some may take her remarks as being unacceptable but what a sad world we live in if this means that some one is sacked for such an "offence".
If I had any control I may well of fired the person responsible for bringing the complaint as it seems to me that it may well have been done deliberately for malicious reasons whatever they may have been. |

| I agree david2. It appears she was 'grassed-up' so to speak. Either by Jo Brand ( who really does look like John Sargeant ) or the presenter of the show Adrian Chiles.
What a sad world we live in eh? |
