tipping ( the money sort)

When we are over in trnc and in restraunts i never know how much to tip.Does anyone know if there is an unspoken rule on what sort of % to leave, is it like Florida for eg where at least 15% is expected or some other european countries where even the locals wont tip, of course if i was ever to receive a really bad meal or service then i wouldnt tip anywhere. Although i like to reward good service and meals, sometimes i wonder am i leaving to much or not enough.

It would be great to hear other members views on this.

Tipping is not obligatory here as in USA where you are made to feel guilty even if you refuse a tip for terrible service.



Certainly you should not leave more that 10% and what you leave, in my opinion, is appropriate to level of service. Always best to leave money with waiter as there are some restaurants that take the tips and put them into the bosses pocket.



In our experience you are still welcome back even if no tip is left.

i tried tipping once (1974 as i remember, just as the Marina TC came out) - never again !

Hi tigger I agree with cyprushome and you should only tip if you feel that you have had quality service, from my own experience it does not matter how much you leave because the true cypriot restaurants do not expect it.
