Blimey, Things have changed! I remember the first Pork Butcher in Girne "Mr Piggy". He used to run around in a van with a Pig on Top. Shop near to where Pia Bella is now.

Yes, been to Sabor and it is good but somehow just doesn't quite hit the mark as the ones I used to go to in Didsbury.

I miss all the great cheeses of the world. Not a great selection over here.

I know you can buy 25 versions of Helim and they pack them in singles, 2's 4's and even by the kilo!

The cheese I miss most is a French one called Epoisse.

hi kittykat I woudnt even try to compete with kebabs. Find it best to stick to what you know and that is real regional italian cuisine and food of an international nature. Pinkchill we can get that cheese for you we do stock some great french cheeses. Sylvie I think you can get Horlicks not sure if I have seen it here or south but I have bought it for a customer. Let me know if you would like some ad I will get it for you. Take care. xx

I don't miss anything when in Kibris for the local cuisine is both healthy

and delicious. Maybe I would miss few things if resident there. Just got

back & enjoyed some wonderful meals at good prices, and my son was

very impressed (and he's a food addict!)

hi pilgrim you can get hot cross bun in marks south side and susie loely donuts in dano by turk bank alsancak. although i agree tesco finest are something else. i miss savoy cabbage and spring greens. managed to get sweed parsnips and saoys importd but I cant eat a whole case of cabbage. i miss walkers crisps a lovely customer sent me some but it was like sawdust. it is getting better all the time with new products and not just the iceland stuff but it is at a price. even get peters savoury products i paid 8tl for a frozen sausage roll.39p back home so these become a treat. but when in rome. There is still plenty to enjoy.

AJ it is a bloomer that is scored on top to look stripey and it is lovely and crispy but soft in the centre, I love the end piece thickly buttered with lurpak and a thick slice of country ham and a side dish of branston.....better than sex

A yabby is a freshwater crayfish, smaller than regular crays but absolutely delicious, mostly found in south eastern Australia I think.

One of my other favourites is something called a Moreton Bay Bug - a small coastal lobster.

Steamed or bbq'd with a little butter, nothing better.....

Philledelphia cheese. You can only buy in the south, but a costly trip just for that! The cream cheeses over here either taste of nothing or its made from goats cheese. Having had some very stinky goats in my garden and I get a nasty whiff off the goats farm up the road from me everyday.Enough to put me off eating goats cheese.
