It would be helpful if those of you who have re located from the UK could post your experiences and opinions of your shipping company as we have had so many conflicting reports ! we understand that the whole package is very important from reliable timing, packing etc to dealing with customs at TRNC !! thank you

Jo Valentine, links on this board, excellent value and service

We choose to pack everything our selves then they came and loaded for us

Worked very well, the container arrived on time and landed here 5 weeks later

Olytrans where the agents at this end excellent service from them as well

sorting all the paperwork and delivery to our address here.

The only mistake we made was chucking everything out that we thought we didn't need, then realised that we did, so if you are having a container fill it

hello Lilli

depends on our builders ! oops thats opened a can of worms wait for it !!! the usual old comments on the way !! like " if you wait for them you'll never come" we just want our house to be as perfect as possible ! our house is finished but Mrs Snakes has very high standards (except for partners ha ha ) and has made some changes to kitchen bathrooms etc ! so when they done we'll be over so save us a table !! probably May time

The only criticism I have on the whole removal thing is, don't expect it to arrive when the shipping company say it will, (I think most people will agree with me here) there are lot's of obstacles, rough seas half full ship's etc... My advice (wish someone had told me) DO NOT put your clothes on the container expecting it to be their when you arrive! If you can give yourself 5-6 weeks holiday and that will cover it.

We used Olaytrans. Hurmus and Olay were very helpful and professional. They were also the cheapest quote we got. Definitely recommend them.

When you get your stuff out of customs, beware them stamping both your and your partners passports if they are not in married names. Also once your passport stamped re importing your household goods, you don't get the up to one year exemption period re having a UK reg car in the TRNC.

In future I will avoid dudes with transit vans called Ramadan. I previously didnt and everything of value was missing when delivered 6 weeks late. Was given a shrug of the shoulders as compensation.... Cheers.

Saying that, I called one of the bigger companies and was told they dont provide insurance either so dont know how much secure that would have been.

One mate told me of a guy who shipped a Porsche Boxster and at the port all the internals were missing!

Another pal allegedly arrived at Famagusta to be confronted with a bloke actually in the process of knicking the wheels off of her Jeep :O

I think the only secure way to ship is in a container, locked, bolted etc (just pray the ship doesnt sink)!

Hello Dan sorry to hear about your shipping problems . Hope things on the family front are working out for you .

The two wardrobes you sold me have been put to good use , i used the best parts to make one double one single and remainder into a fitted cupboard .

Hi

I nearly missed this one....!

Full containers all the time and groupage/part loads frequently both to and from Cyprus. Export Wrapping & packing. Vehicles too.

Please email me for an inventory sheet so we can 'quantify' your move.

I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers

Jo Valentine

Does seem a bit strange Bricvic, then again I do not understand why Msg 24 has posted on this particular post either as it does not seem to have anything to do with Snakes original question. However I do remember you copying and pasting your experiences somewhere with Olytrans, again it is so long ago. Nearly 2 years on and we will probably be asking about experiences of shipping back to the UK very soon!!!

I did put a lengthy post on another forum about our experience in 2008 when it was still fresh in my mind. Ahh, I must have put a link in to that particular forum, strange that they didn't just take the link out though.

Sad but true about going back to the UK, so many (it seems) are being driven away for one reason or another.
