Instead of the 'forum admins' deleting harmless posts maybe they should pay attention to who's joining this forum.

I don't think there's anything wrong with withholding email addresses or even making up a silly name but to add a link to a porn website is going a bit far! I'm sure youngsters use this forum!



Are there no checks made before someone joins and starts posting?

To be fair, this info could be added after joining, but now you have drawn attention to it, the administrators should deal with it promptly and appropriately.

Every 2 weeks or so, I spend like an hour going through suspicious profiles



The reason people join with junk data is to join as quickly as possible and steal email addresses of members. They think that once they join, they can see email addresses of all members. To prevent this happening, we have a code such that members need to post a certain number of posts (I think it's 50 now) in order to see any member's email address. That is of course happens if the member allow that. If a member chooses to hide his/her email address, then nobody except forum admins can see it. I hope this is clear.
