Brilliant idea, it will help to divert some of the crap and leave the BB free for more sensible posts.

Izzet set up a chat room a while ago but it didn't work right so he took it off again - maybe he could have another go?

I think the idea of a chat room is a good idea.....However how do you implement one and control it?...

Its a shame there are some Muppets and timewasters on this forum.

I joined it to gain knowledge and make friends/contacts in relation to North Cyprus and UK.

It has been an amazing and most addictive website I have ever joined etc..

A good idea but would it stop all the daft posts etc? I doubt it.

I agree with Andy, it wouldn't stop any of the daft posts. In fact it's some of the daft posts that make this forum addictive.

If you had a chat room you would definitely need a moderator to stop chats from going from polite chit chats to arguentative opinionated chit chats...just like the forum.

SaraP....perhaps some of the members who continually harangue the existing mods would like to volunteer to be a moderator on the chatroom and show us all how it should be done?

No?......I didn't think so !

No1 You have a badge! How do you go about getting one of those? Or would mine say "most talkative?"

Sorry, Back on thread, I don't see how a chat room would work on here, and it wouldn't stop the bully's, in which case it would have to be closed every other hour/day

Why not just e-mail each other if you feel the need to converse off the forum?

Actually this is where Pm's would come in handy (Private messaging) although these too would have to come with a report post, as they cannot be monitored.

Slightly off-subject here, I know, but CONGRATULATIONS Bill - we think you'll be a huge asset as a Forum Administrator on this board.

Cronos, not a bad idea, but to contact each other, once again email's would have to be submitted, and say for instance. 'Jane' wanted to contact 'Julie' and neither have submitted their email address, it could be a little tricky.

Thanks for your good wishes. I don't envisage having to moderate many posts. I think the forum has been running well for quite some time now. Every one seems to be getting on fine. (have I spoken too soon.........?)

Chatroom (btw easy to set up and implement in existing sites/message boards): http://www.pliner.net/appchat/1c995e/

Just fill in any nickname and chat away... This chatroom is only moderated in name.

Would you install a chat software on your computer if I setup a Cyprus44 chat room on mirc or something?

The one of DC's mentioned on another thread is great fun, for a while.

Poor Static-X can't seem to get to grips with it though - it's like he's trapped in a revolving door!

Chat rooms are OK in short bursts. You get too many people on their talking over one another. It's OK for a two or three person conversation, anymore than that and it doesn't seem to be effective.

What controls are available Izzet.

In my humble opinion chatrooms are hard to regulate and become more of a headache than a benefit.

It would be difficult to regulate a CR. You'd probably have to have someone overseeing it all the time. Unless of course you open it up between certain hours. But then I suppose certain times would'nt agree with some people.

I can't see it working personally.

Even opening a CR between certain hours - it's my experience that they all die within a short time. Secondly: there are far better ways to write in real time. Maybe it's a good idea to tell the board members about all possibilities and how to install and do it?

Dutch. The one you've got is OK. However I agree with what you say, they are short lived.
