my cousins son etem celebi was shot dead last year in a rival gang shooting in stoke newington by a gang member called scarface real name richard harrison ,etem was shot in the back .

the original old bailey jury failed to reach a verdict ,a new jury was unanimous in finding harrison guilty at his retrial yesterday.

etem was taken back to cyprus and laid to rest ,the whole family have now moved to the trnc.

at least justice has prevailed.

Musin - whilst being sorry for your family's loss, it is indeed good to see justice in the British Courts at last. Let's hope we see a bit more of it in the future (although I for one won't be holding by breath).

I don't mean to sound depressing, but I will... A few years back, my 28 year old best friend was killed in a car accident in South Africa. She was from SA (JNB) and we became best mates when we both lived in London.

Although I know she perhaps wasn't living a safe life, she was beautiful and as I said, my best friend. So when she passed on, it hit me like a bus. She was doing 130 on the highway and hit a 'cat's eye' and the car toppled over... The rest is history.

When you lose someone close to you, it hurts. When you lose someone close to you through stupid mistakes, it hurts. And when you lose someone close to you, who tempts faith, it's hell. Especially when they're so young...

Their mistakes become invisible, because, bottom line - they're gone. I still miss Bronny, but I've about come to terms with it.

But losing someone you love, no matter what the circumstances, hurts like hell. Time is the great healer, they say..

Musin M, Respect to you and your Family.

I Think it is very sad what is going on in the World, London has changed for the worst in the last 10 + Years.

I did note on my last visit to Kibris that quite a number of UK settled Turkish Cypriots have decided to move back to Cyprus. (That says something)

I feel very sad that Britain,(No Great) England, United Kingdom has dramatically gone down hill in every aspect. I dont feel proud to be English (London Born) Anymore....It is a sad state of affairs....Without Prejudice...

England is a third world country. It's a dumping ground for Europe's worst. I believe there is a hidden agenda within the EU to rid mainland Europe of the criminals and other low life's and dump them in England. Why is it that the Government has repeatedly refused to curb immigration, even in this current time of financial meltdown? Are they receiving aid from the EU for continually allowing these people in?

Musin,I also feel the sadness of your loss.My condolences at this time are small succour, but sincerely meant. The UK,for it is a misrepresentation to call it Gt.Britain,is not what it was.Justice is rare,in the UK, and we are now slaves to the whims of barristers "games" in courts, who profess to pass jurisprudence off as one and the same.I hope your family find peace in their homeland. Please remember:it is not for the death of loved ones we grieve....it is for the loss to ourselves.

musin

our condolences for your loss.

my hubby was shot whilst working as and off licence manager in south london.

he was very lucky not to have been crippled by the gun shot.

they did catch the culprits a few days later and they all were convicted and sent to jail for 8 years each.

i understand how bad the gun crime is in london, i think it goes hand in hand with drug addiction.

i think the uk gov need to start to arm all police like here in cyprus.

i guess the family must feel a lot safer now living in cyprus.

The trouble is the "doogooders" of this country have eliminated the propper penalties that befit the crime. Some peopledecry the Moslim way of dealing with crime but sometimes I agree with them.I am a great believer in the deterrent factor being brought back. There is nothing to scare these people anymore so we should treat like with like.I would love to see the expression on one of these louts who beat old people to death when they find out they are going to get the same treatment.Yes its barbaric and yes its dropping down to there level, but I bet the crime rate would drop dramatically. We have become a nation of whingers instead of nation with backbone...

Ref your message 14.

'Some peopledecry the Moslim way of dealing with crime but sometimes I agree with them.I am a great believer in the deterrent factor being brought back.'

Punishment is not the answer. If it was then there would be no crimes in places like Saudi Arabia, there would be no crimes in the States of America where they still have the death penalty, there would be no crimes in China where there is the death penalty. But please don't ask me what the answer is cos I don't know. All I know is that punishment is not the cure all that people think.

saw a programme the other evening where it showed gangs etc in the UK london especially ! it seems the "youth" of today think nothing of pulling a gun and shooting someone !! what seems more disturbing they dont seem to care about the devistation they cause and are not deterred by the thought of prison !! a general sentence for murder in UK is 15 years which is called "life" !!! often out in 10 111 how rediculous !! i'm sorry if i am going to upset lots now but i firmly believe that cold blooded murder should receive the death penalty and if not then prison should mean prison ! hard labour and very few if any comforts ! I feel so sad that the country my family for generations have contributed so much is such a dustbin for cheap cowardly criminals and has been taken over by these morons ! i am so sorry to hear your story Musin your family and friends have been scarred forever with terrible memories !

i would love to agree with you,but i have to side with aj ,but please don,t ask me what the answer is either cos i don,t have one.

once upon a time we used to talk about new york ,but it,s a much safer place now than london, the saddest thing is no one has an answer and that,s scarey.

regards to all

we left london years ago.

watched too many people get high on coke, then started running around thinking they were gangsters.

we have lost loads of friends to drugs.

we just decided we didn't want our kids growing up in that enviroment.

Good book on the subject is 'Murder is no accident'. It chronichles how the city of Boston significantly reduced murders in it's city. Two public servants with a medical background took up the challenge. Interestingly they got very little help from politicians and stated that you should not expect to. Politicians were not brave enough to implement the radical initiatives.

There is a woman in london who is doing some similar work but with a different diagnosis. Sorry can't recall her name. Again she does not seem to be getting any support from politicians

No1Doyen Msg 9 :

England is not a third world country : it is still ' paradise' for criminals and' illegal people ' ( and fugatives...) I'm a police officer from Belgium and work in a region near the French boarder. At least 3 times a week , we have to take over 8 - 15 ' illegals ' people without papers from the French Police , ..all these people where ' caught' in the region of Calais trying to reach England( hiddenin a truck).Which is still paradise because there is no law concerning fix adresses , to be registrated in a city hall , identity card obliged to wear on you , etc...Unfortunely there are not only the fugitives looking for a better life who are trying to reach England but also criminals for the same reason...The fugitives receive a free ticket to Brussels and the adress of an aid centre to get legal in Belgium , but they are free to go and guess what they don't take the train to Brussels but to Lille ( France ) direction U
