I know this will not help you with a new remote but a neigbhour of ours lost theirs, we took ours round which was the same make and they set the air-con to the settings they wanted then switched it on and off with the switch on the wall.

hi tansycat

it totally depends on your make of air-con the best bet is to go back to the shop where you bought it from, if they were already installed in your property take a look at the make of the unit lets say its arcelik then go down to either the arcelik shop or their service centre and you will pick one up no probs

hope this helps

p.s if you need to use it now there is a manual overide button, open the unit be carefull how you open it thou, there are two slots on either side open it this way once open there is a button on the right side of the unit just press it

p.p.s what make is your unit

if its regal just go in to a vestel shop or serice centre (vestel & regal same company) and they will sell you one or order one for you from turkey

Remote controls are great for airconditioning. However, I would suggest that you do not rely on them totally and leave a total manual ability as well -- this is because remotes tend to go on the blink and with no manual contral you could lose the ability to operate your unit.

Hi Tc, You can pick up a kind of universal remote in the uk, that you set a code to match your unit (about £20 not 100% reliable, Hence me having 6 of them somewhere that I thought would be useful when I bought them 4 years ago!), but as Erkan said try to pick up an original one if you can, (In the Uk they are quite expensive!)

I know it might sound obvious but if you have ac in another room, similar make it should work, I'm sure you already thought of that

With the overide button, You might need a pen or something to press it in, usually if you press it once it will come on in one mode, say cooling. Another press should turn off, another press should switch unit on in heating (assuming its a heatpump). You cant control any other settings, It's mainly used for switching a unit off if the remotes been stolen by the remote fairies, Like every remote in my house!

hi guys

tim not meaning to be rude but what the hell are you goin on about!!!!

like what james is saying getting a universal control is a option but not at all 100% reliable and also they only cover makes that they sell in the u.k like l.g, mitsibushi etc but if your aircon unit is of a turkish make like regal-vestel-arcelik it wont work, and like james said the manual button only turns the unit on and off and if its set on cold air you cant use it for hot air because you will need the control to change the setting, like i said your best bet is to buy the orignal remote from the shop of your make and they dont cost a lot, i bought a replacement control for my vestel unit for only 35ytl - £14

hope this help

The air con units were provided with the villa the builder has gone back to Turkey and we have just a problem with one unit (regal)

We are over in NC in January and possibly will have a problem with the temperatures will have a go with the overide as suggested until we can find a replacement RC.

Bloody hell Erkan, thats cheap, Last year I paid £100 for a replacement Fujitsu and £90 for a Expelair one for customers.

Here's a tip I picked up, If you want to know if an ac remote is working or not - take it out to the car turn on the car radio to MW and point the bit of the remote that sends the signal to the arial (almost or even touch it) and if its working you can hear it beeping (through the speakers) test all the buttons one by one.
