Been up to Lapta, they charge as follows;

Water 15 TL per month for 0 - 10 tons, plus additional 2TL per ton from 11 - 20, 2.5TL per ton 21 - 30, 3.5 TL per ton 31 - 40, 8TL per ton 41+ all plus KDV

Spraying 4.17 TL per month

Rubbish 9.17TL per month for 6 months

Lighting 6.67 per month for 6 months.

This amounts to approx 145 TL per year excluding water

You can ask for your meter to be disconnected and you will not have to pay any rates or standing charge. To have meter reconnected takes a couple of days and will cost 20TL

You can pay a lump sum rather than pay monthly, if you choose to pay monthly you have 30 days from the date of your bill and it should be payed at the Lapta Belediye office.

Esentepe Belediye charge 30ytl for each service [light/bins/spraying] every 6 months total 180ytl a year. If you do not pay on time, 4% interest will be added to you account

As for the water, let me clear my throat, on TBV which all owners contributed to the construction costs of the desalination plant, we are being charge 30ytl per month for the first 10 tons and additional cost there on. We were suppose to be charged at cost price, but it would appear we are paying twice as much as people in Lapta.

Our taxes of 90ytl were paid in November and we paid our friend in December and they had incurred 4% interest on their account for late payment paying 93.60ytl. We paid our water bill at the same time 150ytl for Aug-Dec 2008. basic rate for the first 10 tons at 30ytl per month.

Yes, we have our own and we paid our friends for them as they were unable to get over to Cyprus at the time, and yes I had their receipts in my own hand with the interest incurred for the council tax but their water was ok as it was paid on time.

Just recieved a Lapta water bill which is now a newly designed bill. Used 18 tons at a cost of 31tl, also have 27.87tl for Temizlik which I think is lighting, 10.13tl for Aydinlatma which I have no clue what it is and 8.5tl for Saglik Resmi which again I have no clue. A total of 77.51tl not inc kdv (approx £33). Can this be right for 1 month?

Water sounds right for 18 tons, Temizlik (rubbish collection) should be 9.17, Aydinlatma (lighting) should be 6.67 and Saglik Resmi (Spraying) should be 4.17. Receeived a newsletter outlining cost last Friday.

Lots of unhappy Brits at the belediye yesterday. General feeling seems to be of the "they`re screwing the Brits variety" Not true as obviously the TC`s get the same bills (whether or not they pay those bills is another question) the rise in water from 7 to 15TL for 10 tonnes is a tad steep and the alledgedly two monthly lighting, refuse, roads etc payments seem bizarre. But what can you do? you don`t have a vote therefore you have no representation WITH taxation.

A bit more information, yesterday we were told that in addition to the general rates listed at the top of this thread, there is also a house tax to pay (Emlak Vergisi), the costs as follows; 1TL per sq mtr of the house size or 1.25TL if you have a swimming pool. Apparently this should be paid by the builder/landowner until you are issued with your Kocan, interest is added at 4% per annum for late payment. The first payment is due 30 April 2009 and covers the period January to end of June. 2nd payment is due 30 September. You need to register, take your contract to Lapta Belediye office and they will calculate your tax.

Oh how I wish I had chosen to live in Lapta, where the water is soooooooooo cheap. when you have to pay 10ytl per ton yes, 10ytl per ton. You really would have something to compalin about. On top of this I have just paid £100 for lighting, refuse and property tax. I know the developer is supposed to pay until you get your kocan but he won't and has passed the bill to us. Do we have a choice? No we don't, are we complaining? No we are not, we are living in the house, so I see it as our reponsibility.

Got our water bill today. For some reason we seem to be paying double the amounts mentioned by for spraying, waste and lighting. We seem to be paying this every month whereas a friend who lives in Karsiyaka only has to pay every other month??? Also had the Emlak tax on which I had no idea about - 150tl. So are you saying we will have to pay another 150tl in September? And another question - we rent the property so should our landlord pay it as it's his house or is it our responsibility?

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Hi susief,

I rent my house out and the tenants do not pay these bills, I do. I suppose it depends what is in your contract. If you were not living in their house, they would still have to pay the bills, is the way I look at it. It is like our service charges, they are to be paid whether someone is in the property or not.

Fuat Namsoy who is the head of the Belediye in Lapta since taking over Karsyaka is doing a fantastic job. All the roads are being cleaned up and large new rubbish bins are scattered about the whole place. I am delighted he has taken over the village.

Thanks Butler, we've always known we'd have to pay our rates (lighting, waste, etc..) but didn't know anything about this extra property tax - we didn't have it last year at the property we rented in Alsancak. I will speak to the Landlord and see what he says. Is this a new tax or has it been around for a while?

Hi folks,

could someone please help me understand the monthly bill I'm now receiving from Lapta Belediyesi?

I live in Kayalar and the very first bill we received was on 3rd Feb 2009,

Its details (in TL) were:-

Su Bedesli :- 15.00

Saglik Resmi :- 4.17

Temizlik:- 9.17

Aydinlatma:- 6.67

KDV:- 0.15

---------------

Total 35.16

---------------

I payed this bill on the 3rd March - (not knowing there was a penalty for late payment, ho hum, we live and learn !)

The next bill, dated 3rd March shows :-

Su Bedeli:- 15.00

Diger Borc:- 8.34

Temizlik:- 9.17

Aydinlatma:- 6.67

Bakiye:- 15.15

KDV:- 0.15

----------------

Total:- 54.48

-----------------

Has anyone any ideas what:-

the Diger Borc ("other obligation" ??) is for ??

and why the Bakiye (arrears) is so high?

I have tried to find out from the lapta representative who comes to Kayalar every Tuesday to collect the money what it is about, with very little success!

I really would like to understand what's going on!!

Try this one

We had a water leak, turned off the water, reported it to Lapta bele... who did not turn up to inspect. Reported to builders who failed to find the joint they had not tightenened nor the split pipe they had left. Result 800+ lira bill.

Whats the betting that I have to pay !!

Re msg 32 we were in the same position as you in that our 2nd bill was issued before the due date of the 1st and the amounts (off the top of my head) were the same as yours. We went into the Karsiyaka office and the payment they took equalled the total of the 2nd bill (54.48). They just threw away the first bill. The amount under Diger Borc is actually 2 x 4.17 (Saglik Resmi). It does seem very confusing but I think it is just the way the hand-held computer deals with issuing a subsequent bill even when the previous bill hasn't been paid but is not overdue (if you see what I mean). For peace of mind I would go into the Karsiyaka office (opposite the main square coffee shop) and speak with them. Make sure you take the receipt for your first bill with you.

we've just paid our bill, we had to pay for 2007, 2008 and 2009....

Not really a problem when you think it's equivilent to our council tax

My problem is, the bills were sent to the builder since 2007, last month they sent the lot the beledesi, and told them to get the buyers to pay.

OK......But we have to pay penalties because WE didn't pay in 2007 or 2008,

but we weren't given the bills, the developers were. Now that is taking

the pee!!!!!

In our apartment block the flat rate monthly Lapta belediyse bil comes to 40.15 lira. Basic water charge 15 lira up to 10 tons, refuse collection 18.33, street lights 6.67 ( we don't have any ) and the annual council tax is 1 lira per square metre.

Hi folks,

update to my previous message (No.32), I paid the 2nd bill on Tuesday and, althougth the bill was for 54.48 TL, I only had to pay 19.32 TL (Su = 15.00, Saglik Resmi = 4.17, KDV = 0.15).

The mystery deepens!

The only explanation I could get was that there had been "a computer error"

Maybe over the whole year all will be revealed ??
