With all the people wanting to move back to the UK and all those wanting to move to the TRNC and not being able to sell their properties in this present climate, would it not be a bad idea to set up a Swap thread?

We are doing a short swap in Oct with a family from Dublin. Son gets married and hotel costs were astronomical, so have organised a house swap. They are looking after our cats and we have even swapped our cars. They get a 4x4 and we get a sports convertable.

anyone with property elsewhere in world , my partner and I would consider swopping weeks in our 5 bed villa in NC for weeks in suitable accommodation, (2persons) in beach, country, or city locations.

Pilgrim. There's a company that specialises in house swaps all over the world. I'll try and source it for you.

Be carefull who you are swapping with.We swapped with a very nice couple with a lovely penthouse flat in London, for two weeks last year.Got back to our house and found the place was a pigsty.Kitchen had obviously been used on a regular basis but not cleaned.Grease stains all down kitchen units, saucepans and all cutlery dirty.Whole kitchen needed top to bottom clean. We also have 60 year old traditional tiles throughout the property and these were badly stained in three of the rooms where stuff had not been cleaned off at the time.

This was a really "nice" couple, the last people you would expect this sort of behaviour from,so once again, be very carefull. It has put us off from ever doing this sort of thing again.

I think this is potentially a very good idea. There used to be a programme on the tele about it - "House Swap", ironically. I would also agree with message 12. I admit to being an avid viewer of "How Clean is Your House" and quite honestly, if people live like that in their own homes, how might they treat other peoples?
