Just been in to Bar D near Kucek Erenkoy, prices shot through roof.

11beers, on 26 Dec would have been 38.50ytl tonight 55.00ytl.

Also Brandy Sours price makes you sour 14ytl! Brandy is 6ytl why so much for SOUR!

The bar is in my opinion the nicest in the north, nut now become most expensive, will be giving it a wide berth in the future

I have also visited Bar B and agree it is expensive. But 14TL for a Brandy Sour that is just silly money. I mean at 6 for Brandy you could buy a bottle for that. Perhaps it is the usual philosophy its quiet so we will charge more but if he wants to succeed he needs his locals and this is not the way to keep them. Shame really nice place

Hi, yes sorry typo Bar b , Navek is spot on with directions

Bar B also ripped off at new year, they opened late nov, second night 4 of us were in and asked what if anything they were doing for new year? They came over and said they would put on a few snacks and a BBQ at midnight approx 10ytl. We booked, they phoned up to confirm we were still going, we confirmed but had to ring back later and cancel when we heard it had been put up to 20 Sterling! I know that was not a bad price but at no time had they informed us that the price had changed. As a result 8 of us went elsewhere. Not a good way to start business.

You really need to look around the place ,if a lot of money has been spent on the surroundings , staff has to be paid , you get what you pay for so to speak , we will def visit as it looks a bit up market a bit different and not to far to travel from Tatlisu .

Pipie,

Definately a very nice Bar, not a restaurant. My reason for the post was to highlight the massive suuden price inreases, the bar used to be very busy since it opened, with a very good mix of local TCs etc, but last night only us plus 1 other person, just before we left 2 more only came in. Bar decor and lighting is one of the best seen over here but lack of customers leads to lack of atmosphere.

Hi,

We were in Bar B last week and noticed.

with surprise, :-(

some of their prices on the black board,

mentioned at the time,

some seemed high,

obviously no change since our visit.

Is a good local pub, could be a great local pub.

Not many tourists about at the moment,

and not the only Pub in the area!

Yes B Bar is a lovely cosy pub, it will be a shame if they frighten all the customers away by raising the prices of drinks. We were there in January the prices were reasonable then.

If prices are so high they should be told about it for their own good. They will be sitting back and wondering why people are not going in, then the next thing they will be closing down. Really all places should have their prices on display.

Hi sissy

Good comment.

The bar prices are on display.

I did say at the time I had just left Stevie's Bar

and it was only 3.5 Tl for a beer.

What other bars are in the area and what sort of prices are they charging. Any business person should look at the local market see what type of clientèle is around and cater to this market. Doesn't look like this what they are doing. Probably won't be in business in the summer if they are driving their potential customers away after one visit

i think lots of these places have no concept of how to run a business or keep customers.

they don't ever think about tomorrow ,only how much they can grab today.

if we go into somewhere and the prices are stupidly high, we have one drink and leave and hubby will argue about the bill(if prices are not listed anywhere).

if we go into somewhere where prices are reasonable then we would stay and have a few drinks, and possibly go back and recommend to friends.

i do agree with the 'you only get what you pay for' for surroundings, clean loo's ect.

but some of these places do take the mick.

Firestarter i am in full agreement with you on this. We have a house in Karaoglanoglu and like to walk in to the village of an evening just for a few drinks.

We liked the bar Sarragossa, full of locals and got to know a few people and enjoyed our drinks there , always reasonable Beer 3 ytl Local G&T with umbongo tonic 4ytl and always some nuts or fruit FOC.

June 2008 we noticed that the drinks had gone up to Beer 4ytl and G&T 5 ytl still good value. Went in October bar was empty ,and as usual sat down and had a few drinks, at the end of the evening went to pay the bar bill and had a bit of a shock Beer 6ytl G&T 8 ytl !! I made a comment to the owner that his prices were a lot higher than last year , and he just shrugged his shoulders and said something in Turkish to this day that i did not understand.

Afriend was over in November and the bar was closed. I wonder is this another business gone down the pan ??

We've been to Bar B a couple of times. The place is nice but a bit smoky and we've been when there's been a few people in there so it had a nice atmosphere. Last time went my husband almost fell off his chair when he was charged 22tl for 2 beers, a lime and soda and an orange juice!!! Didn't realise until later as he was chatting at the time. BUT bar owner/manager (not sure which he is) wasn't on that night so maybe certain staff member (we hadn't seen this guy before) out to make a quick buck when the boss man is away? We'll query with boss man next time we're in. A shame if they spoil with silly drink charges as it is a nice place to go and would imagine it would be great in summer.

Been there. It's ok, but prices for a "country" bar are way way too high.

Also heard that the bloke who owns the bar is also the builder who built the surrounding houses. He's told the purchasers that if they want to have their kocans, they'll each have to pay £10,000 as they "bought their houses too cheap". Nice bloke by the sound of it then ?

i'd never go there again on principle. Stevies is far better, nicer clientelle and beer prices much much lower.
