I have over 100 LP's that I wish to give away to anyone who wishes to have them. They include The Beatles, ABBA, Gladys Knight, Meatloaf, Rolling Stones, The Eagles and many more.

Auction them on this thread ,why give the very high charges to the auction house.

Whoever or whatever no matter where you Auction them its still better than just giving them away, if the money goes to charity

I agree with Quarmby, if you put them into Amanda's Auctions bah100 will have to pay 15% commission and the buyer will also have to pay some commission, though I don't know what the rate is here.

I also agree with Quarmby, I was making a suggestion to auction them off rather than giving them away, so the money can go to a good cause. I dont know of another Auction room/forum other than Amanda's, so maybe a forum member could offer a suggestion, thats all I said, just trying to be charitable thats all.

Smithy,

You are absolutely right and its a great idea. A good cause could benefit from this and the chosen charity would get much more if it could be done on this forum as there would be no commissions as Quarmby originally mentioned.

I have about 200 vinyl albums (60's 70's 80's stuff) and about 1000 45's here in UK, as well as quite a few 12" singles mainly from the 80's.

I would like them to go to a good home rather than a junk shop but no-one seems to be interested. I thought hospital radio would want them, but no chance, everything on digital.

Anyone any ideas?

sounds like it is a joke !!!! i believe that if anyone has original LP'S, he must be knowing the value unless he is living onto the moon ! this forum is becoming non-sens !!!

I brought my LP's with me along with a new turntable which sits nicely on top of my CD player and it's great listening to them from time to time. I never did manage to transfer or even buy them on CD. Think again before parting with them.

Unfortunately not worth anything commercially.

As I said in my posting, no-one interested.

Have to agree with msg 14. Unless they are absolutely mint AND very rare they're not worth anything Everything is available either on cd or digital these days - see link http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/9438.asp (msg8). It's not difficult to get them on to CD - just takes a long time! Why not put the LP's on to the for sale thread and invite offers?

As a formerly serious record collector I would advise you that you may well have a small fortune there you are about to give away. The advent of CD's hasn't reduced the collectability of vinyl but increased it. View this site before you give them away! http://www.recordcollectormag.com/

LP's are worth a lot in france, espcially when they are originals - thee is a big market for that !!! if they are in good condition with covers of course - the price offered is the price some people doing collecton are willing to pay - for me not collectionner, but for one making LP's collection it can go high - some do collection of post cards, coca cola bottle, starwar toys with boxes .............

Thank's everyone for your views but as I said in my first post all I want to do is give them to anyone who fancies having them. They are not anything special just my old LP's which I started buying in the 70's until I got a CD player in the 90's. In most cases they all have their original covers but they really do not have any great value but I do not wish to take them back to England when I return later this year.

Thanks oilman!

I will persue that.

I did find one contact who wanted me to post the collection to London at my own risk, then if not post back again at my expense.

Seemed like I would be forking a lot out on postage for possibly no return.

Bah100

I will take them all and give a donation to SOS Childrens Charity, I am getting some stuff brought over from UK as they are desperate for funds and other items as per a previous thread.

Apologies to both Scoobydoo and Citychick for taking so long to respond to your offers to take this record collection but before I could reply my PC was damaged in last Tuesday's storm and I have only just got back onto the internet. If either of you could email me on bah@ayza.net then will see what can be done as I need to clear these out by Friday 27th February as I have sold our house here.

Thanks
