One of the things that I am not quite sure of (among many others) is how much to tip the waiter or a cab driver. Each country has it own customs. I have been in countries where the rate has been 10% and others of 25%.

I do not want to come across as "cheap", but also do not want to be taken advantage of.

Help!

Tim10

I also tip according to the service I have recieved, however I take into consideration on who I am tipping, for example waiters and waitresses get poor wages therfore deserve a good tip if the service is good.

As a rule of thumb I tip 10% of the bill all over the world, however this can go up to 20% for very good service or nothing at all if I feel the service was bad.

Hi Tim10

Personally I always tip 10% if the service is good and nothing if I don't feel it is. I always make allowance for the fact that its not the UK and I expect to wait a little longer for my food.

Strange question from someone who already lives in Girne. This is the sort of question I would expect from someone who is either planning a holiday in the Country for the first time.
