There is speculation that Ronnie Biggs will be let out this summer. He is now 79 years and still a major threat to the community according to some. If he committed the same crime today he would have served no more than 10 years in jail but here we are 40 years on still paying his board and lodge. Yes, I know he was enjoying himself in Brazil for a few years but I believe he should be home, even if it is to die.

thats nowt Ripper's fit to be freed from Broadmoor YORKSHIRE Ripper Peter Sutcliffe has been classified low risk and recommended for release from Broadmoor, The Sun can reveal. The top-security hospital’s doctors have told lawyers representing the Ripper — who murdered 13 women and tried to kill seven others — that he is no longer dangerous. According to a source close to Sutcliffe, the medics will support his bid to get out of Broadmoor. And if Jack Straw’s Ministry of Justice agrees with their verdict, he will be moved to a medium-secure unit. That means he would skip the high-security step of the mental hospital process and be given much more freedom. He would then be allowed on to the streets to begin rehabilitation into society. The source said: “If Jack Straw rubber-stamps it Peter will be packing his bags.” The source added that the doctors’ greatest fear is not the risk the Ripper poses to the public, but the risk THEY pose to HIS safety because of enduring anger

I would say yes, let him out, but on the STRICT condition that he makes NO money out of his notoriety. He is a convicted criminal who escaped justice during his prime, had the life of riley, then came back to get his health sorted on tax payers money. By the way - there is also talk of Peter Sutcliffe being eligible for parole in just a few years (poss. less) and he is being moved to a low security jail as he is no longer "a threat to the community" - yeah, right!!! Murdered 13 young young women because voices in his head told him to!!!

He has already been granted legal aid to go to the High Court to argue under the Human Rights Act that he is entitled to a specific tariff for his crimes

Message 5: So I read as well, don't you think its ludicrous that he is allowed to even contemplate early release? Human rights? What about the human right to LIFE that he cruelly snatched from those poor girls and women?

When Sutcliffe was given life that should mean Life **not well lets wait and see,* if you take a life then you should serve a life for each and everyone he has killed, so how can they even think of giving him parole or an easier life inside. Does the families of the Victims he killed, get relief after a certain time, no their grief goes on forever until they themselves die

All criminals should serve their sentences as given. Life should be life - no early release. You do the crime - you do the time.

Sorry - should have probably said "GBH of the eardrums". More seriously, I think Ronnie Biggs should be freed. He's served his time and is an old man - I can't see that he's much of a threat to society nowadays. Peter Sutcliffe on the other hand ....................

He should be kept in prison for the rest of his life. But no doubt the do good brigade will win in the end.Same should happen to the Ripper and any one serving long term sentences. There should be no time off for "good behavior".The full sentence should be served. As has already been said "you commit the crime you do the time"..

coachie, now I know you are a geordie then I know you talk nonesense. LOLOL Darlington born and bred myself. Sorry, only joking of course and back on subject. I agree that criminals should pay the price. Do not believe in Capital Punishment however. My issue with this thing with Biggs is the inequality. He got 30 years and the authorities seem insistent that he seves it. Yet we have Sutcliffe already on light duties which usually leads to a release soon. Also if you commit violent crime now you are told you are a naughty boy/girl, serve a couple of weeks and then let out into a new flat, benefits etc. I do not condone the crime or criticise the punishment, I just want those in power to return to the sentencing of the 1960's or show equanimity. Here is no different. The jail is full so the judiciary is finding ways of releasing early as many as possible to make room!!!
