Hi firestarter, yes they probably do but the gc's don't like them, neither do they like their own brothers who 'escaped' to other places during the war..they treat them with contempt.

We were on the island of Samos the night of the referendum when the GC's voted no. The locals there thought they were stupid and deservered all they get from Turkey.

We have travelled extensively this last few years through the greek islands I do not deny i live in TRNC neither of course do I blatently advertise it.

We have recieved no hostility and in some cases a genuine interest in the situation here.

We also travel between Turkey and greece and the Turkish people in the coastal towns have no animosity towards the Greek islanders.

Many of the places we have visited were formally greek such as Ayvalick the greek people regulary visit from neigbouring Lesvos (Lesbos) and are made very welcome in the town.

They certainly dont go around weeping and telling everybody this was my familys land.

They get on with it accept the status quo as did the relocated Turks from Crete and Rhodos.

Pherhaps the GC's should do the same.

FS Andros? give me a clue?

I find even the Greek mainlanders ok we had a good time in Corinth and in Patras. We bypassed Athens and went strait to Zia.

People i have spoken to dont seem to have had a problem other than its a big city and the pace of life is much quicker than on the islands.

My current favourite is Omnassi a very small island just off the north east coast of Chios very sparsly populated reputably a lot of the Greek shipping magnates come from there beautifull harbour only one taverna and about three shops lots of the houses are abandoned or under some sort of refurbishment.

Be a bit grim in winter i would think.

The other one is Kilimnos the island were the sponge divers come from they still operate from there but now go to Australia to carryout thier proffesion

If you do visit the islands Greek easter is wonderfull.

The Agean coast is wonderfull you can go between Turkey and Greece and experience the best of both.

Re msg 1, Rowlo

The GCs regard Greeks as old fashioned "Gay, quill pen pushers"

The Mainalnd Greeks regard GCs are "Arabs that wear shoes"...

I don't know how many times I have to repeat this.. Greece is "happy" that Cyprus is in the EU and is more concerned that TR joins the club..

In my six and half years in Cyprus I met MANY people, but only three mainland Greeks. Many Pontian Greeks - Russian speakers from the Soviet Union were issued Greek passports and some settled in Cyprus.. but they are only "Greek" in nationality.. the are Russian speakers, naturally, but can speak Greek.

G.Cypriots often regard them as responsible for aq Crime Wave..

Do the Greeks really care about Cyprus?.. right at the mo - with the recession - and immigration probs - not anything like as much as before..
