Went into Garanti Bank in town last week with a friend.

What a farce! they have 6 cashiers counters and only 2 were open. i guess there were about 50 people waiting to be served.

Garanti employees walking back and forth, but none of them had the good sense top open an additional counter.

We gave up in the end and my friend has now moved to Creditwest, who by complete contrast saw her immediatly and she got an extra 3% on her savings as well. Suzie

I am in at least three banks everyday in the course of my business. I would agree that the continental bank opposite lemar on the way to karakoum is first class, smiling faces and very polite, the same for a couple of the credit west branches, garanti bank is terrible, usually an hour or so wait. HSBC is ok if you bank upstairs. I also get very good service from universal in karananlou, but terrible service from there branch in girne.

Suzie,

did you use credit west insurance services, I have heard from there head office that they have employed an english expert. Will be interesting to see what he can offer, hopefully much more than the usual so called insurance expat expert, I am currently using universal insurance.

With Garanti, if you see your customer service rep upstairs first, they give you a VIP number which comes up before all the rabble downstairs! That is why there are so many waiting!!

Trained in the U.K

How often do you go into banks over here and find the same indifference...

6 or 7 counters and two or three tellers in attendence... annoying or what?

And just you try the Telephone Banking service and talking to a machine?

Yesterday I rang DVLC and had to answer 8 different pass ons, each with five options, before I could get someone to speak to?

Regards Joseph

Suzie. You are of course correct but.....

it isnt as bad as Turkbank who are refusing to reply to e-mails and transfer my money to another bank. THAT is unprofessional.
