BNP candidate Paul Golding beats Labours Mike Hogg , St Mary's ward Sevenoaks.

Police race quotas scrapped 10 yrs after Mc Pherson.

Work permits for migrants to be cut.

Are we starting to see Gorden and his cronies turning away from past mass migration & positive discrimination policies as pressure grows from the far right and recent British jobs for Brit workers campaign. Is the worm turning? Or is Blighty to far down the pan to crawl back? will we see the BNP with a voice in Parliment?

FACT : the UK is in the EU and "protectionism", re EU Citizen immigrants / workers just isn't gonna happen.

The problem is and always has been asylum seekers - who are really economic migrants.

Now we are in a recession - it is a normal, unhealthy, response to look for someone / something to "blame" or to claim they are taking our jobs - taking tax payers money..

LEGAL migration to the UK is VERY hard to achieve - and getting harder, and costly.

e.g. A friend who married a Russian lady, who is a Fluent English speaker and is prof of English in Russia.. she owns her own pad there, outright in a tourist area and it will be rented out, and he owns prperty worth - after debt is removed - worth £400K and has an income of £40k plus.. he was £300 in the red at the bank on his last statement - and was told " we don't think you can support your wife !!

He subsequently appealed & included his latest credit report, and offer of a £12K overdraft facility and £30K credit card facili

I remember working in Oldham, North Manchester area, for a while and was stunned at the amount of everyday people starting to vote for the BNP, they were only trying to show the government how disillusioned they were with the immigration problem but would rather vote BNP that not vote at all. They certainly didn't want BNP running the country but wanted to make a stand against the government.

(cont) facility.

He awaits the outcome of his appeal...He knows his wife is not entitled to any benefits even if she can't get a job and so they can't be a burden on the state.

Our govt makes it VERY hard to legally move here if you aren't an EU citizen..

Time to concentrate on the illegal workers..discourage THAT and immigration via the back door would slow !

Dear Dee, re msg 7

just to confirm that my Dear Wife is a legal resident of the UK. She has her Nat insurance number - as does her son ... We have had NO problems "getting her in".. I exercised my right of freedom of movement as an EU Citizen - and their dependants. Applies to UK citizens who have worked in another EU/ EEA state where their dependants were legally resident... but I expect you "knew" that..

Can we get back to the BNP.. What are their "good ideas"?

Good points mmmmmmm,

The employment of illegal immigrants are usually carried out by their own kind, Chinise, Indians / Pakistanis in the restaurants, Iranians in the Kebab shops, Eastern Europeans with the gangmasters on the fens. The new border and immigration dept are on the case, shame these people are often abused, ending up destitute and turning to crime and goverment handouts .

If a shake up in the benefit & legal aid system took place, jail sentences for those who employed illegals was introduced, the Uk would no longer be the utopia these people believe it is.

The upturn of the BNP reminds us that racial tensions can stir when our stomachs are empty and we are staring in to the abyss. Birds of a feather always flock together during times of austerity, and will always target smaller flock. (a warning for TC's)

The great depression warns us that in hard times nationalism can rise and can turn in to protectionism, fascism and militarism which can become catalysts for war.

The people most impacted by economic migrants are the low income and low/middle skilled indigenous workers who have to compete for lowly wages.

These are the people that the liberal elites dismiss, have not protected and the ones who will readily support the BNP.

Economic migration is going to increase. Migrants from Africa will flock here for a better life, especially as their land becomes more uninhabitable with global warming. We can't blame them.

Interesting comments - a vote for the BNP is in essence a protest vote, and rightly so. It represents the peoples disillusion with a Government that has facilitated mass immigration on an unpredented scale, and then compounds the problem by not getting tougher with illegals - witness Afghan plane highjackers still in UK on benefits costing millions after 8 years! - France/Germany would have imprisoned/shot them. People will vote BNP until loony Labour listen to them

Good post MotoMoto......the BNP represents everything I despise....but I can understand why a groundswell of the electorate would consider voting for them as a protest against the tide of illegal immigration.

To have a situation where we actually pay and support sworn enemies of the UK to live here in comfort is beyond the realms of comprehension.

I agree - no wonder so many of us are moving abroad - its one of the key reasons I have moved my family to the TRNC. I too despise the BNP, but it seems it only make sense live in England if you are not English.I have a 2 year old daughter, and there was no way I would send her to a state school in central London where we lived....schools more like Africa

What ever people say about TRNC, it is safe, beautiful, and wonderful friendly place for my little one to grow up

Well said Moto, the reason no doubt many of us left the Uk were changes that made us feel unsafe in our own backyard. They may be a few probs here in the TRNC but not on the scale we see in the UK. The BNP are never going to be the choice of the people but may be a usefull tool to lever the PC brigade to consider our own first, no different to the Turk Cyp goverment.
