Stewart - have you done this yourself, or know someone who has? I ask because I have seen a number of attempts to 'simply change names' with Kibtec. Quite exciting!

We paid 1000 sterling for our electric /transformer infrastructure and water meter to our builder. That was over two years ago.

His name is still on our electric bills, we live in TRNC all the time, my friend and neighbour is here only periodically ie holidays and went to Kibtek to have her name put on the electric bills.

She paid approx 900 lira. I stupidly thought we had paid everything back then but no we will be stung just to change a name.

We were told we would be connected well over a year ago now, (11 Apartments on one complex in Alsancak) at least 6 of us owners paid over 2 grand each to the builder and guess what........... we are all still connected to a 13amp socket on the wall which trips if you use more than one light...... We are still kept in the dark by the builder as to why we haven't got our connections.

We are on tariff 2 which is normal. we have tc friends who would stand as guarantors. I suppose the high price charged isn't just admin charges to change name, it is the deposit we have to pay should we dissapear out of the country and leave bills unpaid. How is this possible I ask, if.... the supply would be disconnected soon after, and... you would then pay for reconnection plus any payment owing, so it's a win win situation for Kibtek
