Please can anyone give me thoughts on how it would be in the TRNC, if there was to be restitution. With the army leaving the Island along with any Turkish mainlander. Infact anyone not Turkish Cypriot. Also ALL land was returned both North and South to previous owners. Can I also have views on exchange land. The annan plan suggested that land that had been subject to exchange would be subject to a valuation on todays relative price. Obviously South is now more expensive than North. So would someone in the south be happy to return valuable land for the Norths valuations? Also the Annan plan states that ownership of the land to be returned to anyone, must be in it's original form, and if a property was built on it it can not be used by the pre 74 owner except in speacil circumstances.

Not sure if there will be restitution Gilkin, both sides appear unable or unwilling to compromise. So that leaves TC's and GC's continuing to settle their property disputes through the ECHR's. We all await the future outcome of the Orams case. There is a possibility that this will PERMIT GC owners of property in the North to seek the assets of EU owners through EU courts. In other words your British home, pension and savings could be at risk. A very frightening scenario. Let us hope it does not come to this.

for us i don't think much would change. our village never had any gc occupants, so we would remain as it is now. we may loose a few residents as some people here came from paphos, but only 2 families. both are racist families so we wouldn't be sorry! i think the biggest worry is for anyone here who has a business. where would all your customers be? if people were leaving? i also see problems on how to decide who is turkish mainland and what rights they have. i know many people who grew up here, did national service here and have kimliks, who are all origionally from turkey. so would it be that if you are not 5th generation cypriot you would be sent to turkey? even if your home had always been here in cyprus.
