After recent events Fosters is no longer to be brewed in Australia - well you wouldn't want a warm one would you?

Very few self respecting Australian drinks Fosters. Its really just for export and hardly exists on tap anywhere outside its home state of Victoria. Widely regarded together with XXXX as the worst beers in the country. Efes is much better

One for mmmmm

Baltika number 9 and the nearest I have gotten to it in the TRNC is Efes Extra.

Msg 8 reminds me of the late Great Winston Churchill.

When challenged in The House Of Commons, Nancy Astor said Sir, If I were married to you I would put poison in your drink.......... to which The Great Man Replied............Madam, If I were married to you, I would drink it!

Effes, Fosters Becks...it matters not......its the principle that counts!

Hattikins.......Too much Effing for me, in this thread!

Me I am a champange girl myself but when on the odd occasion I have a beer I like Bud ,peroni ,michelob, or efes light. Mind you next tuesday I will be happy to have half a guiness somewhere for paddys day xxxxxxxxx

aj:

never found baltica 9 that easy to locate even in russia

and it's brain-damagingly strong and rather coarse

you can buy baltica 3 over there in brown 1 liter plastic bottles

you may feel like a wino carrying them but it is a fantastic beer

better imho than nevskoye export

one of my favourites is imperial export stout to a recipe

created in burton-on-trent for catherine II and 10-11% by volume

but sadly out of production

andre

I worked out in Azerbaijan for 4 years and the hotel that I stayed in used to get it in especially for me. Mind you when I used to drink more than 1 in a session I had to make sure I was lying on the floor first. Damage limitation exercise.

Round here Stella Artois is referred to as "Wife Beater".

I refuse to drink it because of its tendency to make one aggressive!

Now Strongbow..........

re msg 26 AJ

If you drink no 9 that might explain a lot

I prefer Efes to Keo..

I reckon the Fosters / Guinness' / Carlsbergs, etc of this world taste different depending on where they are brewed.. I like the Brown Efes.. Plya/Pole is great village as one can get TR beers and take them back to Limas(s)sol and the RoC police / customs don't stop you any more.. ;)

May fav.. home brewed Perry made by a Gloucester Farmer down by the River Severn .. 1 pint is enough to knock me out..

A little bit of heaven on earth. (Full credit to Greg, the former owner!)

Why in the world would you even mention all those commercial monsters like Carlsberg, Stella etc.

Never limited myself to only boutique producers but if I have a choice...

Ales - Leffe Blonde, Kilkenny

Lagers - Paulaner and actually all small bavarian breweries, Czech Pilsner...

and something in between delicious - Koelsch, but I doubt if you can find it elsewhere out of Cologne

Efes isn't bad at all. Taste is average, not a ton of aroma here, just crisp and clean. goes down easily and very refreshing on a hot summer day.
