I am sure you dont need stamps for the police station when you renew, but the stamp at Lefkosa when you collect your residency has gone up by 1 tl

and it will now cost you 175 tl

At the Police Stn you will need the following, this applies to renewals only and is per person.

1 Copy of Contract with the "stamp registry", stamped on it.

1 Copy of the Pink receipt from the stamp registery office.

1 Copy of your passport showing photo

1 Copy of the "residency page" in your passport, (for renewals only)

1 Copy of the N.34 A form (which was stamped up at the Land Registry office)

1 Copy of your current Bank Statement.

Pink or Blue Book

Take to the Police Station in Girne and 3 weeks later collect from the offices in Lefkosa. It is 7 x 1ytl stamps per person but always take extra, just in case.

Good Luck.

How about the need for a letter from your local Muktar, as this was a requirement last year, or is this now not needed?

CJTill

How about a posting on here each month for updates, as I feel sure something will change and you seem to be abreast of the situation, would be of help to a lot of people, only a suggestion but would be appreciated.

Also if you are renting a property the rental agreement has to be stamped by the tax office and presented at the police station.

Did mine yesterday Hans.

Also for those that are not aware, they are now running a numbered ticket system. Get there as early as possible (8o'clock for 8.30 office opening). Ask for a ticket from the guy at the office door. The ticket will not only have a number on it but also the surname of the administrator that will be dealing with you.

They only issue about 15 tickets per administrator (up to 4 administrators) for the morning session. If you arrive too late and miss out on a ticket then you will need to return for the afternoon session (office opens at 1330) and the same thing happens again, about 15 tickets issued per administrator and if you don't get one then you have to come back on another day. If you do not get a morning ticket then give the guy on the door your name and he will make sure that you get first grabs of the afternoon allocation.

I got their for 8.30 and ended up with ticket number 9 and ended up waiting for about two and a half hours.

When I did mine last year they required the Muhtar's signature plus 2 additional signatures on the Muhtar's letter(The Muhtar will be able to direct you to the other signatories). People in front of us were sent away because these signatures were missing.

Uh oh - confused - regular state of mind for me !!!!

Piggy msg 7 - "pink receipt from stamp registry" "contract with stamp " "N34a" - we have none of these - we did not have them last year when we initially applied - is that because we already have our "shared Kocan (b4 full parcelisation)" in our name ? It was issued before the law came in about registering the contracts and solicitor said no need to register as we had that.

AlsnacakJack msg 13 - are you referring to Girne or Lefcosia office ?

Ours is due for renewal on 23rd March and we had been told that we could not apply until 14 days before - is that right or should we do it earlier ?

Gawd i am glad its only once per year !!!

Thanks everyone.

Hi there, we do not have our Kocan, so the rules may well be different. Best place to ask is at the Police Station. Failing that I am sure there will be somebody on the Forum who has their Kocan and will be able to advise.

Sorry I cannot help further.

Does it have to be a new Muhtar's letter or just a copy of the old one.?

Has to be a new Muhtar form each time, plus last year I had to get 3 signatures from different Muhtars, but I believe its only 2 now, they will make up their minds soon, each year its a panic

re. message 18.

If you don't have a kocan you need a copy of your stamp contract instead. You need to have paid the 0.50% stamp duty (last year during the amnesty period) or for new contracts at the rate of 1.5% on the contract value.

For people in the 1st category ie 0.50%, the copy contract must be the one with the Tax office endorsement showing that you've paid the stamp duty.

Can you go to the Police Station any time of day or is there a ticket system there like Lefkosa where you're better off turning up first thing? Does anyone know the opening hours at the Police Station for residency applications please?
