I am old enough to remember the previous recession, in those days there was only News at 6 and News at 10, each Friday the number of jobs lost that week were declared, nowadays there is 24/7 blanket coverage of the financial crisis.

I know things are bad and many people are having difficulties but does anyone else feel that things are being made worse through the constant negative reporting, even when there is a slightly positive event this does not get reported on, I suppose it could be that bad news sells papers/gets viewers.

Tell me when there was any good news reported, sick of the BBc wasting our money sending reporters all over the world telling us news we dont need to know. Two people reading the news one reads one line and the other the next line, ridiculous about time they got a decent job or joined the dole queue.

I sometimes work in the news and I agree the stories are depressing, I said to a correspondent the other within the rules of telling the truth of course can we have lighter stories....... but I'm only the broadcast engineer so it fell on deaf ears.

Unfortunately the news is not meant to be positive. Nowadays the news is repetitive and boring (just watch sky news for more than 15 mins). They want it to be shocking and scary so that we constantly watch good news is boring. I dont watch the news now I have moved to Cyprus it makes you brain dead. As for the recession is was needed a long time ago to balance things out.
