I believe Gooligan and Little Nige know someone from the company that posts on here..

If that is the case and they have "connection" perhaps they could advise..

Just managed to get hold of extend after 2 days of ringing and it does seem they have had hackers and are doing their best to get things back to normal asap. who knows when that will be.

Makes a change from the spiel I used to get from them..........There is a power cut at the Arapkoy basestation,it's out of our hands.

That was an almost weekly occurance.Arapkoy must of had the power off more times than it was on,not that I believed a word of it.

Use Turkcell 3G... I'm very happy with it, extremely fast internet!

No information about why the service has been soo appaling over the last few months. No appology for disrupted service. No offer of compensation for lost time. No way will I stay with this company when my renewal becomes due.

The have the worst uptime and worst customer service. They don't give a toss about their customers at all!

I have met the owner Kemal more than once and found him to be off-hand and blasé every time. I don't think he values his customers.

If they are under attack by hackers so often it is probably best to not be with them.

My advice is either 3G or Nethouse Networks.

Attack Halts Extend Broadband’s Service

Dear Customer,

Extend Broadband, one of the biggest ISPs of North Cyprus, has been having difficulties with its internet service quality for the past weeks because of an attack of unknown origin.

The attack itself is targeted towards the Turkey Internet Channels of the provider, making it very diffucult to identify and repair. TRNC Telecommunications Office, Turkish Telecom and Extend engineers have been working on the issue since it started hoping to find a solution to the ongoing attack. In TRNC, we can purchase internet service from Turkey’s TTNet, and in situations such as this one, we do not have an option of transferring our customers to another internet channel, in order to ensure their uninterrupted service. The attack is blocking our channels and causing an extensive halt in the service we provide to our customers.

The issue has been transferred to legal authorities for follow-up. Extend Broadband apologizes to all of its cus

This "hacker attacking their servers" is not a new excuse, That and other excuses have been continual as far as I am concerned since latter part of last year, even denials of anything being wrong.

Recently it has got so bad, off more than on, that after the last two days, off most of the time, I decided today to change,I've had enough.

I bought TELSIM 3G @ 69 ytl/mth. unlimited usage + 129 ytl for the Dongle, I was due another month with Extend at 89 ytl. so the change only cost 109 ytl, which is not too bad. You can get 39 ytl/mth package with limit of 3 gb/mth if you don't use your computer a lot for downloading.

I cannot believe the difference in usage, on a good day Extend cut out every 10 minutes, I've been online now over three hours without losing the connection.

Hooray.

Also, if for whatever reason I choose not to renew a month, I do not have reconnection fees, just pay the month when required, that must be a boon for occassional visitors. Highly recommende

Message 15/You have answered my question before I had chance to ask it, as my neighbour who only uses his villa for holidays wants a reliable internet service but only when he is here, which is 4 weeks of the year.

Thanks

It is nice to see that Extend can write, I have now sent 5 e-mails since last Thursday and as yet have not had any response. I cancelled their service at home as I was fed up with not being able to get on the internet and have gone with Turkcell 3G which is fantastic. At work however we still have Extend, but at this rate not for long!!

Today I called them, was number 27, got down to number 2 when they kindly cut me off, on redialing I was number 21 and then got cut off when I reached number 6 - third time lucky and the woman that I spoke to was about as helpful as a chocolate teapot, needless to say I have to phone back about the compensation!!

Come Extend there are other options now and we are taking them!!

If I was running Extend, I'd be on here explaining.. seems to me if there is a problem with their TR connection I'd have an emergency back up link in place - via ( say) 2 way sat .. but it is expensive , but could be used for "emergencies"...

May be some one really is out to "get them" but in my experience these "attacks" are solved by having decent anti-hacking provisions in place.
