Thanks Dee... Rocky..I never use packet mixes with nasty added ingreidients. Everything I make is from scratch with fresh ingreidients. Would be worth you bringing a suitcase of the pancake mix back from Asda's to make up for the cost of the flight! Flying or frying tonight?..lol

I think thats unfair to assume Asda'a pancake mix has nasty ingredients the pancakes are brilliant no phaffing around and less washing up more time to drink the wine..I will have a word with the MD of Asda and let him know your thoughts.

Yes, SaraP it is always better homemade, especially when it is so simple I went over to grandchildren to make them but Dad had bought a mix so tried it and it was fine, and did make 8. But it would have been just as simple to add an egg & milk to the flour mix I had ready. We should make them more often as you can eat them with sweet or savoury filling. (I think men think it is very tricky to make them so they go & buy mixes) 5 year old grandson won the pancake race at school - think he's going to be a runner! Oh, yes and I tossed them well despite being out of practice.

Rocky....The intention of my post was to share a recipe with everyone, I did not intend to get into the boxing ring about it. Just off to the kichen now to make some hummus!

Flapjacks are quite different, made from oatmeal, sugar, butter etc. and baked in oven. The French crepe is basically the same as our Shrove Tuesday ones but they add some other ingreds. Found an Irish one that was also quite rich. We also have the "Scotch" pancakes, also called drop scones as you drop the thicker mixture onto a girdle/griddle and they are also sold in shops.

Kelvin I am working on that one..lol Turbo..Phylray is right! You can also use my recipe for panckes(crepes) for breakfast too. Any savoury filling would go well with the pancakes. You could even add some herbs to the batter.

Andy how to make your own on the Asda site is for women they have plenty of time they have coffee mornings after taking the children to school they go to the gym in their designer gear covering their cellulite caused by to many home made cancakes. They talk about Delias recipes and have rest of the day to cook, a good life really.

I have never looked at pancakes and waffles as a "savoury" food. Jam, syrup or sugar and lemon for me!!! My friend loves savoury pancakes but I can't even bring myself to taste them!!!
