Somebody was enquiring where they could go to have their nails done, please try Rose at the corner of the 'famous' one and only set of traffic lights in Girnie. She is very good and charging 45 ytl, a lot cheaper then a couple of others. She is qulified since 2004.

I had these done once and my nails were ruined for months when I took the gel ones off...not for me..rather use false ones in an emergency..

| I've been having them done for about 10 years now Dee and no problems. My own nails have always been horrible, splitting & breaking. The gel ones look so glamorous and are so much tougher than my own - the only drawback I have found is the cost of having to get infils every few weeks and if I'm travelling, finding a good nail technician to do them. | Just felt I had to update this thread - much as I hate to run anyone down, My friend & I went to Rose Nails a couple of weeks ago. I have a full new set of gel nails - took about 1 1/2 hours to do and (with a manicure before which they said I must have) cost me 85 tl. My friend had infils which cost 45 tl. 5 minutes after leaving the salon one nail fell off! Couldn't go back there & then as they had closed and everyone was hungry after waiting on the big 'nail job'. By the following day I had 8 nails left in place & one of those was cracked - about to go. I went back to Rose nails - and she asked me to return at 3pm when she would fix the 'kaput' nails. Another hour and a repair job (which I hadn't much faith in by now) but I have to say the girls in there were very pleasant - even when I went back to complain! However, I stay in Lapta & travelling back & forth to the other side of Girne each day to get your nails stuck back on is not my idea of fun! Cont. |

To cut a long story short - this girl does not know how to do gel nails properly . My friend who had infils done as she was just about to go back home tells me they all fell off by the end of the week! Ok for a manicure - but avoid for gel nails! Maggie

Gel nails are dreadful imo and they look false and thick ...most ppl I know say they fall off easily..why not get the false ones that you just stick on, if they fall off you only need to glue them back on yourself..and they are cheap as chips

| Hi, Theresa I'll be based Palm Plaza, Alsancak. Ref message 12 - I agree, some nail enhancements can look thick and false, this really depends on the skill and training of the technician applying them. Again, this also applies to how long they last, I have many clients in the UK who have been coming to me for a long time and have never "lost" a nail, however some people are harder on their hands and nails than others! The stick on ones you buy can be great for a one off, but regular use can lead to nail plate damage and possible infection, so aren't really a solution for those who want extensions all the time. | I have been having gel nails for over 5 years but unfortunately Chrissy from Bodyworks left the island, therefore, I had to find someone else and I am pleased to have come across Figen of Bodizone who does a fantastic job and my nails look very natural and they never chip or break between visits. Figen trained in Germany and has been in Cyprus for a year based in Girne. Her number is: 0533 835 6036. |

Full set is 125TL and then 70TL thereafter for infills. I go every 2 weeks, however, gel nails should last at least 3 weeks before needing infills.

Message 18 Holllywood toes are the pinnacle in low maintenance French pedicures! A thin layer of Brisa gel is applied to the toenails in a French Manicure style. This is then cured under UV light. A high gloss top coat gives the ultimate in shine and durability. Unlike nail enamel, this will not chip or peel, so is ideal for summer months and holidays for a no-fuss glamorous pedicure! Message 24 When I've worked out how to get the Hollywood body, you'll be the first to know, lol!

Hi I must say that the beauty prices in TRNC seem rather steep, or is it me ??!! I got a full set of Bio-sculpture gel nails 2 weeks ago for £25 in my local beauty salon at Virgin Vie in Chigwell, uk. Process included a manicure and took 1.5 hours and involved 3 very thin coats of gel applied very skilfully, and set between coats using UV lamp, and then a top coat to give maximum shine. They are fantastic, very natural-looking and hard-wearing despite doing the washing-up, a couple of gardening sessions and several visits to the pool and jacuzzi. I will be going back to have them re-done in a couple more weeks -they don't do re-fills, saying the results are not that sucessful, but when you are only paying £25 for new nails, I'm not complaining. You can save money by soaking them off yourself using acetone polish remover. Why are prices for everything getting so high in TRNC? How can you all afford it? Susie

Sandie, Bio scuplture gels are not really any good if its length your after they are best for colours. Phoebe cat does brisa gel nails which is a really good brand for gel nails and the training you recieve when you do these is really good,(i've done it aswell) get her to a set for you, you'll be impressed. Essex girl, Yes you can soak off bio with acetone but you should have a nail technician do it if your going to replace them anyway! And prices are generally on par with those in the UK if you convert it.

I had mine done as Rose's too and what a mess. It was a desperate measure as my "usual" lady, Ala from Velena has been poorly so I had to get them done somewhere! Never again! Took 2 hours, and one is almost off (less than a week). They are thick and to me look terrible. Admittedly only 45TL but would prefer to pay Ala the 80TL and have great nails that I need done only once a month. They never chip, fall off or look false because she knows what she is doing. Hope she calls today to say she is back at work.
