Hi, I am a new member and will be settling to Catalkoy next year. Currently building a house, but also interested to buy a couple of apartments for rent. Which area seems to in demand for renting, and also what sort of apartment is in demand. i.e 1 bed, 2 be 0r 3 bed properties, what floors are more popular. If anyone has any comments on this subject, I would like to read your comments please. Hope to meet you guys when settle.

Hi Biker

I'd think very carefully before purchasing property for investment as there is an enormous volume of properties for rent without the tourists to fill them.

If you purchased in Girne you would possibly be able to rent to a local who wants to be independent.

Yes dont forget also tourism was down last year - not sure of the percentage - but have definitely read it a few times. I'm not sure why this has happened.

Also Biker you can only buy one property per couple. Although there are ways round it!

Thanks a lot for all your responses. I am actually a trnc citizen as well as british so should not be a problem to purchase other properties. So I understand that Girne is the favoured place for rental. Also do you guys think it is easier to have long term rentals or short lets.

From what the estate agents stated villas and apartments for holiday lets prove more difficult to rent out then having long-term lets. Apartments rent out well to students.......but having one of these creatures myself and seeing how he and his fellow students live I'm not sure I'd want them in my apartment!

Hi Spud1

Do you find Esentepe a bit quiet? Do you still travel to Girne to get most of your stuff? How full is this development, like what percentage would you say is sold and occupied? Sorry about all the questions.
