Alex, we used to do lot's of stuff kids today would never dream of, could you imagine thumbing a lift these days? You would be lucky to ever be seen again!

I remember bunking off school and going round a friends house when her Parents were at work, then getting bus back home at usual time, only 1 day my sister came running up to me to tell me the Truant officer had been to our house. I was shaking in my boots. I was 14 at the time and had wagged it for 3 days.

Bill - don't think there's any need for the little loves to "Hop the Wag" as we used to - they decide they don't like school, are called "school refusers" and receive private tuition at home!

Spider.....are you saying the lorry driver gave you £5 to spend?

If you are 55 and this was 40 odd years ago, that was a good days wage for some people!

Are you sure it wasn't 5 shillings ?

Or that you didn't have to do anything for the five bob?

ONLY KIDDING - although to be fair, given the literacy levels of some posters you do wonder if they ever attended skool.

Takes me back to Belfast about 1960, myself and 4 friends done the bunk from school, and went to the ABC Majestic to see Cliff Richards in the film Expresso Bongo, actually it wasn't Cliff we wanted to see but the strippers BooBs and bots. We were 12/13years old at the time the mind boogles.

Sorry I digress, the next day back at school we were all summonded to the headmasters office a certain Mr Campbell a giant of a man who unknown to us had attented the same afternoon matinee, he give us such a hiding with his cane we bled and were reduced to tears.

BUT IT WAS WORTH EVERY STROKE !!

we had it down to a fine art.

the 6th formers use to wear black jumpers.

so if you wanted to bunk off, we would take a black jumper to school, change into it from our grey ones and the truancy man never even approached you.

it also ment you could get into the pub at lunch time.

we use to get up to plenty, but that would be far to much info on here.
