Hi. We are coming out next month & will be in Girne. Can anyone recommend a ladies hairdresser - I've tried a few out there over the last couple of years but I always seem to get the stylist who doesn't speak English!!

Also my husband likes to go to the barbers out there, he's been to a few but the price seems to be what they decide on the day, different every time, again can anyone recommend a barbers.

Many thanks, looking forward to the sunshine!!

Oh, forgot to say, her english is brilliant, sometimes with a little 'French' thrown in. LOL

Also, she returns to Uk to keep up with the latest trends and equipment.

Flowerfairy and Smithy are spot on with Nac and the Cutting Rooms. I've said it before and I'll say it again, she's the best hairdresser I've ever had anywhere. She does gents hair too and my brother is another satisfied customer.

To find her, head out of Girne towards the Pia Bella Hotel. When you get to the roundabout by the hotel, turn left as if you are going to the new harbour. After a few hundred yards, you will see another left turn with a "Koop" shop on it. Head down that road, past the little school on your right and soon you will see an army place on your left. Nac is on the ground floor of the apartment block opposite. There's a big sign outside so you should be able to spot it.

If you can't find her, her number is 0392 815 91 51.

As I said before try Naj at Cutting Rooms, I had a bad experience at Hair studio when they left the bleach on my hair when I had highlights and the guy went to lunch, it burnt my hair so bad that it has taken over a year to get it nearly back to normal thanks to Naj's help, don't take my word for ask around

Neil Anthony on the new Harbour is the only place I will go now. You have to find some one you trust here and they are it for me.

Hi

Just to let you know that a lot of the hairdressers here are not qualified. I advise you to go and see Nulten who is the only one on the Island that actually train students for the City and Guild. She is a London Cyp, an extremelly nice person but most of all she is a brilliant stylist and will spend absolutely ages on your hair as it is her passion.

I would definitely go to Cutting room. Ive never had my haircut there but judging by the posts she has to be the one. I did drive by there once. I normally get my haircut at the barbers, but might goto cutting room and have a perm and highlights. Give her a try Nac is the best.

Not sure if I have got enough hair for a perm maybe just highlights. Naj is the best though.

just read the post it from someone about Nultan Oral, yes she is a very good stylist and yes she does teach City and Guilds, but the proof of the pie is always in the eating, try all the salons, we are all the same, some of us are just better qualified. na

Hi I also had a bad experence at Hair Studio, went to 'Toni & Guy' on the south side to fix it, near the border crossing on Ledra St, good and they all spoke English but expensive, I will try The Cutting Rooms next time as everyone is saying it is so good and is close to home! Thanks!

msg 21...that man hasn't just got a 'wicked' sense of humour, he is perhaps one of the most spiteful men i have come across...not to mention a very bad hairdresser...although i haven't had the pleasure (not) but many of my female friends have complained bitterly about their 'do'.....Neil Anthony...the writer...i think not!!

It is good to hear positive comments ( with the exception of message 26 )

I work for Neil Anthony and I find him a very talented and creative hairdresser who runs a very very busy salon in Kyrenia..................which rather says it all.

Jimjam's remarks were uncalled for and inappropriate..maybe he has had a personal run in with Neil but he should keep it to himself instead of coming across like a spurned old person!

The only hairdresser I would recommend here is Nultan Oral - she is the only one qualified to run the London City and Guilds Hairdressing School - she has done absolute wonders for my very fine dry 70 year old hair (and under her supervision her students colour it to the colour it was more years ago than I like to admit to - honestly it has taken on a completely new life - she trains apprentices to international standards - also read this weeks Cyprus Today and you will find that her students (all of whom are really good) have given free hairdos to the elderly residents at the lapta old peoples home. Unlike a lot of the postings I do not have any vested interest - just a very happy customer.

NEIL ANTONY all day, very good over qualified... years of English experience and qualifications. Funny, funky and a very talented (young) man, he has a lot of confidence and you can leave him to hs own creations and you will still come out happy.

what more can you ask for.

150% happy customer here

Nulten Oral, excellent, staff friendly and dedicated. They put my abortion of a haircut right and I'm goin nowhere else. Heard criticism about all the hairdressers here except for Nulten Oral!

Naj is superb, does a fantastic job. Really sorted out my daughters hair which was in an absolute mess.

Would recommend her w/o any hesitation what so ever. She's basically behind the hospital in Girne for those still not sure.

@ Ataturk, try some pink highlights m8, will look great with the Stilettos.

Have a haircut in the UK where true competition and talent rules.

Now that GHD is not open, I'd go south.

Failing that I'd go for Neil Antony as he's not jumped on the evil & spiteful bandwagon!

Could that be ,because Neil Antony is legal? (or should I have said "not illegal"?)

Nice guy by the way,and his partner(?) I used to live next door to each other when we wre kids.

Oh dear,

Can we not give it a rest with criticising?

"Failing that I'd go for Neil Antony as he's not jumped on the evil&spiteful bandwagon"

OR speculating which hairdressers are legal and which are not?

"Could that be ,because Neil Antony is legal? (or should I have said "not illegal"?)"

If any of them close for whatever reason, there are plenty more about!

scoobydoo;

You have a very good point, but my comments wrent wrong either.

by all means,I never met Gez,and dont have nothing against him,

I certainly do not agree the way he was treated,

but the truth usualy hurts,

Yes,you are wright, there are plenty more about, without the need of going to south!

Sorry Yorgozlu,

I was having a 'fed up' moment with all the speculating going on with this situation when I wrote my message.

Yes, there is no reason to go south, it is more expensive plus the costs of getting there, and there are still perfectly good hairdressers here who need support as trade is difficult for most businesses this year anyway.

I totally agree with the comments in Message 26. I used to have lovely long hair but boring so plucked up the courage to go to a 'good' hairdresser's about 6 years ago. What a mistake. The hair was different lengths on both sides, it looked like a great chunk had been chopped out of one side and I had to tie it up until it grew out as I was so embarrassed. I rarely go to the hairdresser's now after that experience but a couple of years ago I went to the Hair Studio and had the most fantastic haircut which took years off and received lots of compliments from friends and strangers alike!! Now I just go to Ali at Thalgo for a trim occasionally and I cut my own fringe!!
