Hi Flowerfairy Here is my Recipe for Welsh Cakes { Pice ari main } 8ozs SR flour 2ozs Lard & 2ozs bitter { or 4ozs of butter } 3 ozs of sugar 1 oz of currant i med egg beaten Rub in butter into flour , add sugar and currants , bind with egg , roll out mixture onto floured board , and cut out rounds . Cook for 2-3min on a griddle or a heavy frying pan if you have'nt got one ,turning once when golden brown . Sprinke with sugar . Enjoy ! There are variations like adding a little cinnamon but i don't . They will keep for a few days , if you can stop yourself eating them all , they are quite moorish . I also make Teisen Lap { Plate Cake } Good luck you can't go wrong , Simbas

Ah, so it's welsh cakes, thanks Simbas,..... now.............. I don't suppose you have a recipe for cowl do you?????? my mother in law showed me how to make it, but I never wrote it down, she's passed on now, I'd love to surprise my man and make it again.xxx We had to go to UK a couple of weeks ago, and I bought some silk bunches of daffodils, so the house has got a Welsh'ish feel about it today. Thankyou, Happy St David's day

Here it is FlowerFairy it always tastes better the following Day . Cawl Traditionally it's Lamb , but i use stewing steak occasionally , 2 onions 2 leeks 4 carrots 4 parsnips swede Potatoes Water 1 or 2 Oxo cubes salt to taste you can vary the amounts to suit your taste and to accomodate the size of your saucepan . Put the lot in together cover with the water about 1 1/2 ins above the ingredients . bring to boil , remove the froth from the top , if using lamb let it go cold and remove the fat , no need if you use beef . then simmer for about an hour and a half until everything has cooked through , enjoy with lovely bread & butter to soak up the juice . Made mine last night , my mouth is watering just thinking about it Regards , Simbas
