Hello All newbie just joined. Currently buying a property in Tatlisu and through the forum getting an idea on whats around the area. Can someone probably the most informative uk turk give me an idea on how long it would take to drive from Tat to Bafra. There seems to be at the moment more development happening in that area hotels etc etc and if not to far out possibly a nice day out.

Thanks in advance

Hi Steviec

Welcome to the Board.

Not too sure where Bafra is but I'm assuming its Bogaz area. If so then there is a quick route from Tatlisu through the mountains rather than going via Girne.

Obviously the mountain route is quite windy but reasonably wide and in places surface isn't too good but its not too bad. Easy to go to for a day out but make sure you have plenty of fuel as there aren't too many petrol stations around the Karpaz end of the Island.

The new road is now open so it will take even less time to get to there

The new road is excellent, and there are ample petrol stations, I echo the timescale 30-40 mins no problems and the road is good it goes from Tatlisu to Getikale where there is a petrol station on the corner then you join the existing road to Bogaz, more petrol stations along the way and the new large shopping centre and supermarket, when you get to the T junction at the end of this road right takes you into Famagusta, left to Bogaz and Karpaz

Wow Marik I think its about time I went along that road. Last time we ventured that way was well before the road went any further than Tatlisu and there was literally only one petrol station and definitely no shopping centre.

Thanks all if it now only takes 30ish minutes its another place to certainly visit was a bit concerned Tat was a bit out of the way but getting more and more happier with my choice. Even if the very simple infrastucture stayed as is now( IM sure it will change for better) would still be happy.

Hi Raybo

We like the fish restaurant in Bogaz harbour. Bit expensive but always found the food to be excellent.

Hi mint1955

We've bought at Sweetwaterbay.co.uk and we're delighted with the complex and with our developer - our villa should be ready at the end of May when we intend moving in.

Good luck

Hello Tatlisu! I'm Jo, James Valentine Overseas Removals +44(0)1302 729595, Email: valentineremovals@hotmail.com. Are booked to do some moves to Sweet Water Bay. We're in Doncaster, Yorkshire but operate throughout the UK. So, working closely with Olaytrans, who are EXCELLENT, we do the initial survey, inventory sheets, costings, packing, export wrapping and loading (operatives trained to BAR standards), prepare the Shipping Lists, mop your fevered brows! then you relax and drink a few Efes while Olaytrans sort the shipping, ease your goods through Customs and deliver to your new home. If you are wanting to 'quantify' the amount of goods you are moving, let me know and I'll Email you an inventory sheet. My Parents moved from Leeds to Ozankoy in the 1970's so we can share some moving experiences!

hi raybo , the fish restaurant that karen is talking about is fab , there is also restaurant opposite the exotic hotel that we use quite regularly also overlooking sea serves a great menu and great prices too, there are loads of good eating places on the way to the karpaz , but i dont know their names , sorry , we just stop if we like the look of a place , although i have to say we have been rarely disappointed ,

good luck , simbas
