Just asking everyone? Why are we here and what are the reasons we are here?

nobody knows and you will never get a correct answer... you have to believe in what you believe and more importantly respect what others believe.. you wont get the answer from any of us on here because there isnt an answer to your question..just guesses so make sure you look for the good in everyone...sometimes difficult to find though

Message 1 - God, if I had the answer to that I'd be worth a fortune.

My guess would be this - be as nice as you can to everyone you encounter and hope that they reciprocate. Why do someone a bad turn when you can do them a good one.

Nothing!

If you have to ask this question, then we all know that your life progression started badly, faltered a bit in the middle and tailed off towards the end.

So, resignation and suicide beckons, but we will never forget you.

I'm sorry, what was your name again?

Heard this saying "Life's a bitch, and then you die"

Seriously though, life is what you make it, as far as possible.

It's a great life, if you don't weaken, and a wonderful world.

The answer to the question depends on whether you are religious or not.

I suppose a non-religious theory would be that we are just beginning to learn about the importance of our environment. You could say that as wards and guardians of all of nature, we're obviously here to nurture and protect our environment.

Certain coincidences seems to happen - I'm a great believer in what goes round ,comes round ..... but it sometimes takes a long time.

Lilli will know some of the answers the this question ..... but a funny thing happened last Friday ... I was going up to support someone at a disciplinary hearing in Preston ..... and knew that I was to be grilled by a complete b******d .... I reached for an audio cassette at random - I haven't had any on for years ..... never guess what the second track was? .......

High Noon by Tex Tucker .... remember the lyrics in the first ... I kid you not - definately brought a smile to my face

Hi Steve I wish I did but we all have our own faith and religion to respect and to respect each others. However I dont think that was a coincidence about your tape. I believe we all have a guardian angel that helps at the time. As you know I do believe in regresion, as someone said until we get it right. Did you win your case. Take care Steve xxxxx

Hi Lilli, Case still going on and on - complete miscarraige of justice going on - and it will end up in an Employment Tribunal. How on earth ordinary working people can treat others beggers belief .... but you all know that being in Cyprus. Seems to me many people in the UK are too selfish ,as the Wicks notes above - why be bad when you can be ok - nobody is the winner over the longer term by these nasty actions - but some people are being crippled and destroyed by illegal actions - but we will sort it .... eventually.

Always nice to hear from you Lilli, trust you are keeping well, kind regards,Steve

You to Steve , Yes the Wicks have it right. Keep strong. Can I give you this quote from Jay Leno. With Hurricans, tornados, fires out of control. Flooding and severe weather tearing up countries. The bird flu, terrorist attacks etc. Is this a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance. Not preaching honest but does make you think. Love to all xxxxx

hi lilli

i find you comments wierd.

my grandmother always believed in god until she got to about 70.

then she gave it all up because she felt if god were there, then he wouldn't let such terrible things happen in the world.

hi fs i think he was referring to having belief in God not to disbelieve. There will always be good and bad things in the world and you do have to question it, why does he let it happen. Maybe its all scientific we will never know.

Dear Firestarter, through life and bitter experience,I realise that this is the School of Hard Knocks - nothing to do with God.

It doesn't really matter if you believe in God or not - apart from natural disasters, the really bad historical events - the Halacaust,Pol Pot,Vietnam and most wars - are all man made ;as a result usually relating to power and greed.

Not quite sure why some people are dealt "better hands" than others, but I can only reason that some tragic personal events enhance the person and the people around them - after all,we are all going to die - just a question of when;and how much you can pack in and experience.

Having studied Socrates,Plato and many other scientists and philosophers;this is the only way that I can get my head round things. Deep, but interesting subject though.

Kind regards,Steve

Hi Firecracker,totally agree,

we all "boldly go where no one has gone before",and "may you're God go with you" philoshophy.

Sorry about the cliches, but they seem to sum up this thread.

Firestarter

I kinda agree with your grandmother. I began to have doubts at twelve

(though brought up strictly Christian) when my mother died

She had asked us to pray for her, and quoted out of the bible. Of course

we did, to no avail. Personal, I know, but my doubts have grown more

when you see what's happening all over the world.

Look at children playing in a nursery to find the true purpose of life!

Albert Camus said, we humans are creatures who spend our lives trying to convince ourselves that our existence is not absurd.

From my experience, these questions arise from dissatisfaction with life or some aspect of it. That's ok, nothing wrong with you. They call it midlle age crisis

Hi LondonCypriot

It depends on your beliefs as cotrrectly described by those above.

I think the search to find an answer is a good thing... so good look to you.

The Atheist will tell you... it is, in the main, nothing but chance.

You live, you do your honest best, you die and you rot. Thats it...then nothing.

While the believer...he will offer you rationale and hope.

I love Frontalman's post re the children...

There is a collection of sonnets that tells the story of a man who is searching for the very answers you have asked about and questions why he cannot find his God... he searches everywhere his whole life from the earth to the heavens and eventually finds his quest in the eyes of a little child. It ends...

"For though all clay is finite bound

He left His mark that it be found

For He does glory in the child

His gentle image meek and mild"

Regards Joseph
