I'm stunned

maybe it is a short-term technical glitch,

because they need to change the codes every so often,

or even a promotion

surely they have someone forking out a hundred notes a year for a card?

I will have a look on hotbird and see if i can indeed resolve antiques roadshow or whatever repeats they are churning out and report back

Hi guys,

I'm guessing BBC Prime disappeared from the Hotbird line up, I've had no luck finding it from Larnaca?

We have Hotbird and we watch BBC Prime with Eastenders every week. The service has gone down on occassion but soon returns, not bad for free.

I think motorized dishes are out. I have one but it stays in one position for years. It is far more convenient to have a second fixed dish and have a disecq to switch automatically from one dish to another and its done instantly.

BBC Prime shows repeats programms that you wouldn't watch the first time around - if the highlight of my evening was watching that tripe, i'd hang myself....

In fact i think i'd rather play NAKED twister with my miserable Missus (don't ask) and Garry Monger's missus than watch an evening of BBC Prime....

It will not stay "clear" unless the Beeb are going to hand back subs to those who've paid ;)

This happens occasionally - I reckon they may do it show show us want we are "missing" ... enjoy it will it lasts - and all the repeats

I can find BBC Prime, but on Hotbird STREAM, not Hotbird 13E; unfortunately it is not a free channel and my card does not handle it. I'm not sure why I can't get the free version on 13E from down here in Larnaca, any ideas?

Hi Satman,

I hope you don't mind me for asking, but I'm new to this. We can see BBC Prome on Hotbird STREAM (not 13E) but it is not a free channel and our card does not handle it. Do we need a different card or change something with our setup?

We are in Mazotos, near Larnaca,

Regards,

Alan

Hi Othen

As Satman is busy !

Hotbird 6 - formerly known as Hotbird at 13 degrees EAST broadcasts BBC prime on several frequencies as part of several SKY Equivalents

The main BBC Prime - you should be paying the BBC World company - operates on :

Satellite: Hotbird 6 ( often shown as Hotbird 13 degrees EAST )

Frequency: 11,116 MHz

Polarisation: Vertical

Symbol Rate: 27,500

FEC: 3/4

You can search for this if your receiver allows it using the above info

Hi mmmmmm,

Many thanks for that, I assume I have orientated my dish to Hotbird 6 (it is just listed as Hotbird, or are there others?). I'll have another search using thos parameters and see if I can find the free version of BBC Prime (the only one I can find listed is a subscription one that my card will not access.

Alan

Thanks for that mmmmmm,

I'm happy enough to buy a subscription, and I suspect that will be the most reliable route. I noticed a friend in Nicosia has the basic DIGITURK package, which includes BBC Prime &c; would you happen to know if that would work with my current set-up (i.e. with HOTBIRD?).

Regards,

Alan

Dear Othen re msg 19

Sadly, you'd need your dish moved - or a second dish - as Hotbird isn't the place where" DodgyTurk" broadcast from !

There is a shop in Limassol on the sea front - a Lebanese guy married to a Latvian - who offered Dturk subs and installs - it is 600m East of the holiday inn on the opp side of the road - close to DizzieBizzies cafe and next to a shop selling Russian Sat stuff and TVs
