Just decorating the bedroom and playing back some recordings of Desert Island Discs.

Lets all chill out from a lot of whinging on this board, make yourself and brew and consider whilst you are sunning yourself beside the pool or tidying up your roses what 8 records would you choose to listen to (in no particular order)- with any reasons.

I'll start off with a group, which mainly reflect nostalgia, growing up,being with mates, holidays and special times.......

Imagine : John Lennon

It was a Very Good Year : Frank Sinatra

Christmas Dream : Perry Como

I am a Rock: Simon & Garfunkel

Entry of the Queen of Sheba: Bach

You were always on my mind: Pet Shop Boys

La Mer: Charles Trenet

Heroes & Villains (Beach Boys) - could be people on here?

Could easily have a second disc, but there we go,kind thoughts to all,Steve

It was all going so well!,....

We took our '8 best' CD to the restaurant in Girne, who were happy to play it during our meal.

Everyone was foot-tapping to George Michael, 'Faith'.

Then enjoying Demis Roussos, 'Forever and Ever'.

It went a bit quiet during Melina Mercouri, 'Never on Sunday'.

By the time we got to Nana Mouskouri and 'White Rose of Athens', it was getting better,.. we had drawn quite a crowd,.... including some Turkish soldiers,.. who we invited over for an Ouzo!

Bit of a blur after that!

I remember 'Zorba's Dance' starting, but not much else. ;-(

Steve1953 - Just a small point but Arrival of the Queen of Sheba was by Handel, from his oratorio Solomon.

Dear Arek Naw,you're right -came back to me later - sign of old age and being tired from three days of decorating. Quite a few more of the classics make great listening.

In general, I think listening to radio and music much more satisfying than watching television

kind regards,Steve

Hi Simbas how are you. Me and Mrs Jones one of my all time favourites. We had the luck to have Billy Paul and his good lady in for dinner 6 nights in a row 2 years ago at our provious restaurant here. On the last night he stood up and sang that song as I pestered him all week. I asked his good lady how the song came about and she replied Liz my honey child the thing that has given me the greatest pain has given us the money. They were so lovely he was an absolute gentleman here in cyprus for the music festival. At 71 years old he could still sing it like he did all those years ago. We still keep in touch. Blackpool I love your humour xxxxx
