Hi can anyone help I have a stainless steel sink which for some reason all the chrome has gone a funny colour and seems to be peeling off, it wasn't my choice in the first place as I am a 2nd time buyer, can anyone suggest where to get a sink/drainer from and know of anyone who could put it in for me, I would be so grateful as this one is driving me mad looking at it

I saw some in Mepas when I was looking for tiles a few months ago. Also saw some in Cagras, opposite Mirabelle restaurant on karakum road. Don't know about fitting though.

No its not. If you head to Catalkoy from the new harbour roundabout you will pass Lemar on the right, follow the road and you will see Mirabelle on the left after a 100 metres or so then Cagras will be on the left. only thing is I don't know whether they fit or not

Mirabelle has been called 'Al Shaheen' for quite a while now, I think...

I think Keithcaley is right, the Mirabelle has changed its name to the Al Shaheen.

I still refer to it from years ago as the Mirabelle, sorry to mislead you.

Hi Smithy, send me an e mail, i can fix it for you, you need to make sure that the sink you buy is at least as big as the one coming out, if its in a wooden worktop a little bigger will be no problem. Geoff.

there is a shop on the main road in gonyeli that do lots of sinks.

they stock ranges like franke ect.

so if you are looking for decent quality it could be worth a look.

Hi Smithy, basicaly yes width and depth, but if the corners are slowly rounded you have to be carefull to get the same, as otherwise you could end up with the new sink top not completly covering the hole in the worktop, if you get my meaning.

Probably the best thing to do would be to cut out a paper template of the sink you have in now and take it with you when you go for the new one, then you can be sure you have the right size.

Thanks Geoff looking at it now it is rounded at each corner, god I wouldn't have noticed that its in such a state that I don't like looking at, what a disgrace for it to have gone so bad in such a short time, the previous owner must have got the cheapest one going to sell her apt on, dont know where I would get such a large sheet of paper to do a template, probably use a newspaper, many thaks will be in touch

Smithy.

Best thing to do is sort out who will fit it and get them to give you the size and type.

Hi Smithy,

A stainless steel sink shouldn't have chrome bits coming off. Even the cheaper ones don't have chrome in them. There are many products on the market in the uk, which would clean your sink and return it to like new. However, the waste piece in the sink maybe has been chromed and this would peel with wear. If this is the case, it is only the waste piece that needs replacing. A much easier and cheaper job.

Hi Butler

All the stainless steel has tarnished I think that's what I meant, I think she might have spilt something on the sink, the guy upstairs has just told me that it looks like she has tried to get limescale off the taps and didn't know it shouldn't be used I don't know its just a thought, but either way it has to be changed.

Hi Gates it a single drainer, but many thanks I have a friend coming next week to measure and fit.

Many thanks for all of your help

I cant believe I have been running around to different shops today looking for just a sink/drainer and the prices they want is astronomical, I didn't want Stainless Steel but they were quoting even 400/500ytl for one of them, and the others well they were going through the roof, so going to look other side of town tomorrow to see if I have better luck, how they can say £200/£300 for an ordinary sink is above me, so it looks like I will have to go with S/Steel now as the last option.

Gates I totally agree with you, you get what you pay for, but the ones I looked at today I would have seen better in a B & Q Store they were of either poor quality or well over priced. but will carry on tomorrow.

Geoff I will call when I have bought one, I was told today that they are mostly a standard size but took the measurements anyway.

If you are still looking there is an very good shop in Lefkosa, where you can also negotiate a good price. The shop is directly opposite "Esic Premier" (not sure that the spelling is correct.

Take the main road to Lefkosa Life Hospital, at the traffic lights turn towards the hospital (it depends on which way you are travelling from) then carry on straight for approximately 1km you will see the shop on the corner.

Hi Vicky

Thanks for that info, at the moment as my Son has my car I am relying on him running me about until he returns to the UK next week so I'm not going far afield, the shops are saying they are standard sizes but they dont look like that to me, but many thanks again
