Even more sad that as the soldiers lay on the ground further rounds were fired. Politicians from both sides have made statements to cool down the situation and lets hope ....

Does anyone think that this may be related in any way to the recent revelations that the SAS has been operating in NI? (and Ido not imply in any way that that these murders are justified because of the SAS's operation - murders can not bhe justified whatsoever)

just when we thought it was all over. the real ira will take us back to the bad old days. My heart goes out to the families of these poor soldiers who were hours away from a tour of duty to Afgahanstan. The people of Ireland have ben enjoying peace and rightly so. This cannont be ignored for the sake of the future.

Sadly, it's not the "end" as now a NIPS officer has been murdered, too. What is SOoo dadft is that the nationalists will get what they want ( a united Ireland ) PEACEFULLY, through natural demographics... My thoughts go out to all the folk back home and hope that moderate, folk on both sides of the divide "shop" these FOOLS..

Sadly, there is also a link to the TRNC. The father of one of the soldiers was born in Northern Cyprus. All political parties in RoI and Northen Ireland (incl Sinn Fein) have condemned this terrible atrocity. It's only a few extremists, with no support within the community, responsible for this outrage and the killing of a policeman last night

Mark Unfortunately there never has been peace in Northern Ireland. You know as well as I do that there are factions that have been and still are hell bent on derailing the peace process. I think it is so sad that in this day and age that so called educated people (perhaps they are not!) feel the need to resort to committing acts of murder to make their point. AJ

I think there is a an important point in Msg qo "All political parties in RoI and Northen Ireland (incl Sinn Fein) have condemned this terrible atrocity". The spoilers see that they are isolated and only way they see in their perverted way to resurrect their slipping wishful dream is to incite hatered by provoking a reaction a confligaration

RIRA? I'd be quaking in my boots. Two senior ex IRA men in the government on N. Ireland are confronted by a killing they did not want. The police are asking for help. My money is on discreet phone calls to the boys by said ministers, to make sure things are sorted. How's about ya, then? Gerry's not pleased. You have a problem, Houston. Just face the wall, why don't ya? Won't take long. Say yur prayers. Lem

No, they will not take us back to the bad old days. It has strengthened the solidarity of all sides. My heart goes out to families of those young men and the policeman also. I see tonight 2 men are being questioned about this murder.

Let's not forget the poor Polish Pizza delivery guy, fighting for his life. Last night watched Martin McGuinness label the murderers TRAITORS and asked folk to assist the Chief Constable of the NI Police Service. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article5884894.ece These "ijits" have demonstrated they are NOT remotely popular with their strategy.. It will probably be some some young lads fed crap by some twisted old git...

They a just a bunch of morons who like to kill people to stir uptrouble, they probably thought it up on the spur of the moment. What I also find disgusting is parents who can let their kids go out and burn the flowers people had laid there.Should find them and publicly flog them ,parents as well.
