Don't give up hope,_I received a parcel, posted in Brighton on December 5th 08, received in Lefkosa on March 3rd 09, and delivered to Lapta on March 4th.09. Chocolates, a present from my children, which appeared to have been sat on!!

A friend in Kumyali received an Easter card last Saturday, March 7th,09, from her sister in UK.On opening, found it contained old news, so checked envelope. The date of posting in UK was March 08. Wonder where they've been?

Hi,

same experience here, checked post box at gate on Saturday, and found 8 Christmas cards from UK, all postmarked Dec 2008, some of them date stamped on the back to indicate arrival in TRNC Dec 2008 / Jan 2009. None of them date stamped by local office (Alsancak).

It looks to me as though the BRS campaign has resulted in instructions being passed down to root out any old mail that has been mouldering away in dark corners and get it delivered!

I advised BRS, and thanked them for the results of their efforts.

Keith.

An idea:

Why don't the Post Offices sort the mail into the following:

1. Turkish sounding names

2. Non sounding Turkish names.

They could then sort these 2 piles, alphabetically.

I'm sure this will speed things up, but possibly, they like it the way it is. Instead of a 3 minute visit, it could be a 30-second visit.

Here we go again...Brits changing the system.

I think the BRS is not to thank, there recent entry into the surveying of the system is well behind.

In the UK several MP's have been on the case for a few months now, 2 of which are senior cabinet ministers from each side of the house. These MP's have been brought in by people prepared to fight for their rights and have been battling through the system.

The Royal Mail Chairman's Office has been heavily involved in a project that is still on going.

Hopefully results of this project will eventually identify at what point between the post box in UK and letter box in TRNC the problem occurs.

I wrote to Cyprus Today last summer complaining about not receiving post from family and friends which seemed to restart the Postal Problem debate again. But this week I did received from our daughter in England a large envelope containing a Mother's Day card for the wife and some bithday cards for me and they only took less than 10 days to arrive in Girne Post Office. So whatever has been done seems to be having an effect for which I am gratefull.
