Hi all I am an english girl married to a turk,we have 3 children all have turkish citizenship and are pretty fluent with turkish now.At present my children are going to the british international school here in istanbul. We are considering relocating to n.c because of many reasons but mainly because of school fees ,next year it will cost us 67,000usd for 3 children. My main concern over there is that we will be bored especially in the winter months, where is the best area to live bearing in mind that we need to live fairly near to an international school .

Kamaks, I live in Alsancak which is west of Girne. My husband is a mainland Turk and I am English. My son originally went to a Turkish nursery but now attends Miss Judys school in Karaoglanoglu. It is quiet here in the winter but is getting better as more people move here. Next month a bowling place is supposed to be opening, there are cinemas etc but you will have to rely alot on making friends. We have lots of friends both English and Turkish and do not get bored.

I you can afford to come here for a week or 10 days you would get a much better idea of where you would like to live and of course the proximity of schools for the children. I cannot tell you the price of schools here but I feel sure someone on this thread would be able to help.

| Hi, how old are your children as that will also make a difference in the price. If you came west of Girne, there is Sunny Lane School which is an English school, but the children there are mixed nationality, so you would meet English people and your husband would meet Turkish and North Cypriot's. | Thanks for your replies, my children are 12,8 and 4 ,so i also need a good secondary school. Here in istanbul we mainly mix with ex pats because our school is very close ,so my husband wouldnt mind that. Have heard mixed opinions about sunnylane ,people saying the teachers are not properly qualified .does anybody know anything about the new english school? |

I know that some of British residents in the Bogaz/Farmagusta area take their children to the British Forces School in Ayios Nicolias/Dekelia just across the Farmagusta border crossing. The rates are reasonable, try the BFPO Schools website for more details.
